Top 10 Best Restaurants near Place Vendome in Paris

We find the Place Vendome in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, not far from the Louvre Museum and the Tuileries Gardens.

It’s a spacious square, enclosed by beautiful Haussmann architecture that has been standing here for over two centuries. When the sun goes down on Paris there are few more picturesque places to be as the light catches the top each building.

Being the tourist hub that it is, this neighborhood is abundant in gastronomy from around the world, with a particularly strong Asian food scene. Here are the best places to eat in and around the square.

1. La Table de L’Espadon near Place Vendome in Paris

The 1st arrondissement is known for its general sophistication and opulence, so La Table de L’Espadon makes for the perfect escape from the streets into a Versailles-style dining room accompanied by an upscale menu.

This isn’t the cheapest place to eat near the Place Vendome, but it’s an experience nonetheless. The cuisine is “haute French”, and the interior is definitely also on the haute end of the spectrum.

Booking in advanced is advised.

2. Ferdi near Place Vendome in Paris

Where do the Kardashians and Kanye West like to eat when they come to Paris? Right here at Ferdi, of course.

They’re not the only ones; celebrities can often be seen dining in Ferdi, despite the casual ambiance of the spot.

The menu is classic French with a modern twist. From French soups and hamburgers, to corn on the cob & even mezze plates. This is a tiny space and you will need to make a reservation.

3. KIM. near Place Vendome in Paris

As mentioned, the areas surrounding the Place Vendome are rich in Asian street food options. KIM. Is one of many Japanese restaurants within walking distance from the square.

It’s not much to look at, but the food is consistently impressive and incredibly affordable (which is something to cling to when in this part of town).

Sushi is the main event at KIM., but there are a number of other Japanese soups and sides to make your lunch or dinner into a more fulfilling experience. Walk-ins are generally welcome, though you might struggle for a table after 8pm at night.

4. Kintaro near Place Vendome in Paris

A short walk away is Kintaro; a spot that brings us the other side of Japanese cuisine.

You won’t find any sushi on this menu, but rather Kintaro explores Japanese noodle culture and the art of perfecting Japanese ramen.

This restaurant is slightly more formal than the afore mentioned spot; it’s ideal for date night or general upscale dining. Everything is cooked in the center of the space, while patrons dine around the spectacle.

Needless to say there is a tangible ambiance here at all times. Fantastic food and service to match!

5. Im Thaï Gourmet near Place Vendome in Paris

Taking us elsewhere in Asia, we take a short walk over to Im Thaï Gourmet.

This is a Thai eatery that opens for both lunch and dinner service, 6 days a week. At Im Thaï Gourmet vegans and vegetarians dine in harmony with meat eaters, as there are an abundance of options available for all guests.

The space is casual and cozy; the true impression lies in the food which rarely disappoints. Come hungry and bring friends; starters and mains to share are a great way to properly experience all Im Thaï Gourmet has to offer in one sitting.

6. Udon Jubey near Place Vendome in Paris

If you’re a fan of udon noodles, or have been wanting to try them, then it doesn’t get much better or more authentic (in Paris) than Udon Jubey near the Place Vendome.

This is a tiny cafe with a very small yet impactful menu. You’ll choose from a few starter dishes and then multiple versions of the udon noodle dish depending on your protein/veggie preferences.

Udon noodles are different to ramen in that they are much thicker, and much more chewy. Vegetarians are well catered to at Udon Jubey and even though the restaurant is so small, tables turn very quickly so there is rarely a lengthy wait outside.

7. Pho 14 Opera near Place Vendome in Paris

Another one of the best restaurants near the Place Vendome is a spot called Pho 14. This place brings authentic Vietnamese food to the 1st arrondissement.

I love the idea of the “open kitchen” through which one can see the chefs hard at work preparing these very colorful dishes. Pho 14 is very simple, very affordable, and very popular; expect a 10 to 20 minute wait at the best of times.

Vegans and vegetarians need only express their dietary restrictions to their server and the kitchen will gladly accommodate.

8. Big Fernand near Place Vendome in Paris

I wouldn’t usually include a ‘burgers only’ joint on this kind of a roundup, but Big Fernand is great French street food and worth the mention.

These are classic French-style burgers made to order. The menu is very simple, with a handful of meat and vegetarian options. Dining in is an option, but what I love about this food is that it’s easy to walk over to the Place Vendome itself and eat right there in the square.

Picnicking in the Place Vendome is a popular activity in Paris, particularly during the summer months and amongst first Tinder dates. There are benches in the square, but bring a ground cover of sorts along if you want a guaranteed spot.

9. Hippopotamus near Place Vendome in Paris

Meat lovers listen up, this one’s for you!

Hippopotamus is a barbecue restaurants right here near the Place Vendome. The menu consists of meat, meat and more meat; all cooked in a variety of styles and sauces.

The restaurant itself is laid out like a retro-style diner, which does well in a neighborhood where everything is usually terribly brasserie and bistro looking.

This extensive menu takes beef and transforms it into versions of itself few people probably knew existed. Steak tartare burgers, self-cook hot rocks, even barbecue crepes alongside traditional French onion soup.

By night, the vibe in Hippopotamus picks up as the cocktail menu comes out to play. At present there are close to 20 Hippopotamus steak houses across Paris but this one near the Place Vendome remains the most popular.

10. Murphy’s House near Place Vendome in Paris

For something a little different while in the 1st arrondissement I must recommend Murphy’s House; an Irish restaurant a short walk from the Place Vendome.

When most people hear the words “Irish restaurants” it’s likely they automatically think of a pub. Murphy’s House is more like a French bistro meets and Irish pub; a perfect balanced version of the two.

Murphy’s House – by Murphy’s House – Uploaded by them

The food is, unsurprisingly, pub food, so expect a lot of burgers and fried things. Murphy’s House has a great dessert menu as well as some excellent and relatively cheap beers.

Murphy’s House opens promptly at 7am daily, and only closes up around 1am. Weekends see the bar staying open slightly later, but the kitchen will close up as usual.
