Harry Kane linked to Man United and Greenwood Return 

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has acknowledged that his team is looking to add a striker this summer, and both Harry Kane and Mason Greenwood are on his radar.

The Red Devils qualified for the Champions League this season, and they will be looking to advance further the following season by contending for the title. For the upcoming campaign, they need to increase their goal-scoring.
While Marcus Rashford managed to score 30 goals across all competitions this season, Anthony Martial was their second most productive striker. Only nine goals were scored by the Frenchman the entire season.

Regarding Rashford’s fantastic play, Ten Hag praised the training-field effort the Red Devils’ academy graduate has done while announcing that the team is looking to add a striker to its roster. He said, as reported by The Times: “What I have done? He’s [Rashford] a good football player, incredibly good and his finishing attributes are high.”

“So, first of all, I make a culture where he can perform. Then I get him motivated and then construct a way of play where he can do it. And fitness, as well, don’t forget that part. When those four aspects are there Marcus Rashford will score.

“He can play as a center forward, can play from the left, can play from the right. When you see his stats, he is scoring everywhere but he feels more comfortable as a center forward or from the left.”

He added: “What we need besides Marcus Rashford is one extra player with scoring abilities whether it’s coming out of our own squad or we have to sign one.”

Although United’s transfer plans are currently on hold due to the ongoing takeover process, Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. Ten Hag even admitted just a few weeks ago he was unsure how much money he had to spend on new recruits this summer. After scoring 30 goals in the Premier League this season, Kane will enter the last 12 months of his contract and Spurs will expect at least £100 million for their talisman.

Mason Greenwood, a recent academy graduate, might return, which would be one possibility for United. The club has kept the striker on administrative leave while it conducts an internal inquiry into the charges of attempted rape, coercive behavior, and assault that were dismissed against him back in February.

Ten Hag responded that Greenwood “showed in the past that he is capable of doing that [scoring goals]” when asked if he could supply United with the firepower they require. The Dutchman further reiterated that it would not be his decision to consider reintegrating him.

Since breaking into the first team, Greenwood, 21, has made 129 appearances for United and has scored 35 goals. He played his final game with the Red Devils in January 2022.
