2023 Number 1 and Number 2 To Square off In The Summer League Opener
The hottest talents in basketball right now Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson might face each other again earlier than expected.
Their last meeting was October 2022 when Metropolitans 92 where Wembanyama played went head to head with Henderson’s NBA G-League’s Ignite.
Ignite got the best of Metropolitans winning 122-115 with Scoot Henderson leading with 28 points.
In the Second game, a Wembanyama-inspired Metropolitans 92 scorched Ignite to win 112-106 with Wembanyama scoring 36 points.
As the June 22, 2023, NBA draft gets closer, the San Antonio Spurs are looking to pick first after winning the draft lottery to select first on May 16, 2023.
Victor Wembanyama is projected to be the first overall pick and everyone expects the San Antonio Spurs to add him to their franchise.
Scoot Henderson is projected to be the second pick and after Charlotte Hornets got the second pick in the draft lottery, they look like the final destination for Scoot.
Since the NBA draft happens during the summer, it is obvious that at that time the ceremonious NBA Summer League is always knocking and a tournament always takes place in Vegas.
The NBA Summer League is scheduled for July 7, 2023, in Las Vegas but an earlier small tournament comes too early.
The California Classic in Sacramento is slated for July 3, 2023, which will comprise six NBA teams comprising Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Charlotte Hornets and the Miami Heat.
July 3, 2023, will see San Antonio Spurs go head to head with Charlotte Hornets in which we will see the 2023 NBA draft number one pick square off with the 2023 NBA draft number two pick.
In our case, Wembanyama will be facing Henderson for a third time and there will for sure be fireworks.
All these two talented youngsters will be going fully in intending to make a statement early on before the official summer league begins in Las Vegas on July 7.
The Miami Heat will face the Los Angeles Lakers with the Golden State Warriors facing Sacramento Kings.

We will have to wait and see how Henderson and Wembanyama matchup plays out but one thing that is for sure is that it’s going to be a ferocious duel.
