Things to do in Paris in October

October in Paris means that autumn is here! This quotation from the “Autumn song” of French poet, Paul Verlaine, epitomize the Parisian spirit in October:

“Les sanglots longs
Des violons
De l’automne
Blessent mon cœur
D’une langueur
Monotone.”

If we translate it to English, it means:
“The long sobs
Of autumn
Violins
Pierce my heart
With a monotone
Languor.”

The crisp of the orange leaves, the dramatic pink dusk on the river, the warm feeling inside the cafés with a smooth hot chocolate… October is definitely one of my favorite months! It is the time where the city evolves into its autumn clothes and an intimate atmosphere falls over Paris. From romantic strolls in the park to happy wine harvest, October in Paris is full of surprises. Let the “autumn violins” lead you among this list of things to do in Paris in October.

Go to Montmartre between the 9th and the 13th of October

From the 9th, October ‘til the 13th, October, Montmartre neighborhood is definitely the place to be! You will be able to witness the Vendanges de Montmartre, which is the Montmartre Wine Harvest. It is a fantastic way to experience the best of Paris in autumn. Since always, the neighborhood of Montmartre produces its own wine. What’s more peculiar than a major city district growing wine grapes?

You don’t want to miss the harvest. It is a celebration of the reasons why we love and worship wine in France, but also the time to have fun and enjoy regional products, wine tasting and much more! During five days, this great event brings togetherness, from musicians, performing artists and fireworks to wine connoisseurs and families. Exhibitions, concerts, parades will also be happening.

Also, this year at the bottom of the Sacré Coeur Basilica. This year’s theme is peace, so there will be many stands dedicated to peace. Hip hop dancers, food stands from all around the world, a huge ball and many others surprises await you! If you’re curious, love to try new stuff, and want to have a good time, Montmartre is the best place to be at between the 9th and the 13th of October!

Have fun during the “White Night”

One of my favorite events in Paris is the “Nuit Blanche” (White Night). It will take place on the night of the 5th of October this year. This saturday night, hundreds of Paris sites, including museums, galleries, and monuments stay open all night, allowing for some promising cultural discoveries and surreal nocturnal itineraries. Enjoy light installations, many concerts and open swimming pools, all night long!

For those of you with a sweet tooth…

The Salon du Chocolat is definitely one of the things to do in Paris in October. Parisians love it! From the 30th of October until the 3th of November, the Salon du Chocolat, so to speak the “Paris Chocolate Show”, is happening in Paris at Porte de Versailles. You can get there either by metro line 12 or 8. It is a yearly trade fair for the international chocolate industry. From chocolate statues, free tastings, chocolate fountains to the unforgettable fashion chocolate show, if you’ve dreamed about it, we’ve done it!

Attend the International Contemporary Art Fair

And finally, for the art lovers among you, October opens the gates of one of the most important annual events in Paris’ contemporary art scene: the International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC). This event will take place at the Grand Palais, a beautiful glass building dating from the nineteenth century, on the Right Bank of Paris, between the 17th and the 20th of October of 2019. There will be about 180 art galleries within the Grand Palais. Artists from all over the world will come to Paris to show their greatest works. If you’re into contemporary art, this event is for you!

Have a walk in a Parisian garden

To have a walk in a Parisian garden is one of the best things to do in Paris in October. Autumn is here, warm colors invade the whole city, days are slowly getting colder, we start wearing our most comfortable clothes. I really think October is one of the best months to come to Paris!

The Paris atmosphere is really unique and its parks and gardens are the most beautiful! Have a walk either in Jardin des Tuileries, Jardin du Luxembourg, or any other. They are all so charming!

Spend Halloween at Disneyland Paris

If you’re coming to Paris during Halloween, you should definitely spend it at Disneyland Paris. At this Disney theme park, the Halloween Festival happens the whole month of October! You will feel like a kid again because the atmosphere is the most joyful one you’ll ever experience. Happiness is all over the place! There’s laughter and smiles on every face. The attractions are the best. I mean, fun is really guaranteed.

During the whole month of October, all your favorite Disney characters will be dressed accordingly to the event. The most fun, original and as spooky as possible. Many Halloween parades happen during the month every day. If you have the opportunity to go there, you really should! You will have a great time at Disneyland. You, your family and friends will go back home with the warmest memories.
