The best cosmetic stores in Paris

Updated by Vanessa M in September 2023.

In addition to having arguably some of the best cuisine, architecture and in the world, Paris has long been the world’s most respected producer of perfume and cosmetics. But where can you find the best cosmetic stores in Paris? I’ve put together this little guide with my favorite addresses to shop beauty and skincare in the city. I hope it will be helpful for you!

Paris is known for its super chic citizens with that simple je ne sais quoi allure. Of course this Parisian look is obtained with the help of some exceptional beauty products. But Paris is a huge city and it can be hard to find just what you need, especially if you don’t know where to look. Luckily, there’s all the addresses of the best cosmetic stores in Paris in this article. Keep reading to find your new favorite beauty stop!

Galeries Lafayette

Most people know Galeries Lafayette for being an upscale department store with an amazing view. But it’s so much more than that! Aside from their impressive clothing selection Galeries Lafayette has one of the largest arrays of cosmetics and perfume that I have ever seen. Walk into their famous ground floor atrium and you won’t be dissapointed. Ornate golden fixtures adorn the traditional Parisian architecture to create the ultimate shopping location. Surrounding you on the ground floor are stands from nearly every cosmetic or skincare brand you can imagine. From Tom Ford to Nuxe, there’s something for everyone (and every budget). The only downside to this store is it’s extremely popular, and can often become crowded. I would recommend arriving early in the morning or on weekday early afternoons in order to avoid the huge crowds!

And as an added bonus, the store is also home to an incredible rooftop terrasse, a gourmet deli/grocery store and several in-store restaurants. Don’t hesitate to stop in for a coffee or snack after your shopping trip!

Sephora

Probably the most well-known and international chain making our list is Sephora. The beauty giant has become hugely popular in France and around the world, due to their simple concept and vast product catalogue. At Sephora, you’ll find everything from the hottest trends in K-beauty to some of the oldest and most respected French brands like Guerlain, plus a little bit of everything in between. Now there are several Sephora locations around the city, but the Champs-Elysées location is by far one of the best cosmetic stores in Paris. This is Sephora’s largest location in Paris, plus it’s easy to stop in after visiting the nearby Arc de Triomphe!

Oh My Cream!

On to the next place on my list of the best cosmetics stores in Paris; Oh My Cream! As the name suggests, this little boutique is all about cosmetics and skincare. Founded in 2013 by parisienne Juliette Levy,  the store focuses on sourcing cleaner, more responsible cosmetics. I love their ethical approach to beauty products and their great collection of brands. If you’re looking for something natural, chances are you can find it here.  In addition to having their own line of skincare products (cleansers, serums, anti-age creams, etc.) this bright little boutique also carries plenty of products from international brands such as Dermalogica, Ren, Nuori, John Master’s Organics and more.  The staff here were some of the most helpful and knowledgeable I have come across. They can suggest products for every type of complexion and are happy to answer any questions you have about cosmetics. There are several locations across Paris, so there’s bound to be a boutique not far from you.

Le Bon Marché

Ahh the Bon Marché, it’s hard to imagine something you can’t find at this luxurious department store. Opened in 1838, the Bon Marché has become a true Parisian institution over the years, and it’s not hard to see why. Behind the beautiful Haussmannien façades on the posh Rue de Sèvres lies an exceptional array of clothes, shoes, housewares and of course, beauty products.

Their selection alone makes the Bon Marché one of the best cosmetics stores in Paris! Step into their giant beauty section on the ground floor, and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Here you can find anything from small brands to some of the most luxurious labels, some of which also offer items exclusively at the Bon Marché. But if you’re looking for hair products or perfume, not to worry! There’s an amazing selection of perfumes/colognes and even a special section dedicated to hair care (on the second floor).

Pharmacies

Believe it or not, one of the best cosmetic stores in Paris is your local pharmacy! In the city, pharmacies are very common and can be found on nearly every street corner. In France, a pharmacy is much more than the place where you pick up your prescriptions, they also have an incredible selection of beauty and skincare products. French brands like Caudalie, Bioderma and La Roche-Posay are mainstays, but you can also find independent brands and Parisian cult favorites like Embryolisse. Not sure what you’re looking for? Just ask the pharmacists! In addition to being knowledgeable about prescriptions, they can also advise you about which beauty products are right for your skin, etc.

Citypharma in the 6th arrondissement is my go-to pharmacy in Paris because they have such a huge selection, and prices are significantly lower than other locations I’ve tried. Plus, the staff are friendly and most of them speak English too. Stop in and see for yourself!

Printemps Haussmann

Printemps, located in the Opéra Garnier neighborhood, has become one of the ultimate shopping references during the previous 150 years. The department store brings together luxury, homeware, fashion, the world’s largest beauty department, a space dedicated to circular fashion on the 7th floor under the splendid Binet dome, an entire floor dedicated to shoes, and a food section that includes some of the biggest names in fine produce and gastronomy.

The selection is extensive. Hundreds of premium labels, from the biggest names to the newest, in-the-know designers, can be found across its three locations on Boulevard Haussmann. Dior, Chanel, Saint Laurent Paris, Hermès, Jérome Dreyfuss, Isabel Marant, Vanessa Bruno, and Erès are among the labels. Each area, from fashion to beauty, wedding lists, lingerie, accessories, fragrances, and home decor, features a carefully curated mix of current and future trends.
