Visitors can once again enjoy strolls within the scenic grounds of The Wallenstein Garden. Gearing up for the spring and summer seasons this year, the garden reopened its spring season on April 2, 2024, after a winter break.

The public will be able to visit the gardens from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on weekdays. On weekends and Czech public holidays, the garden will operate from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. During open-door days, visitors will be allowed in from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.

As the second largest garden in Prague following the Prague Castle gardens, it sits next to the Wallenstein Palace. This palace serves as the home to the Czech Republic Senate. This 17th-century gardens and palace are adorned with ornamental pools, baroque statues, flowers, and trees offering an ideal ambiance for those seeking to get away from the rush of urban life.

The Palace can also be visited as a separate entity. Its doors open for free guided tours every Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. The last entry takes place at 4:00 pm.

The Splendor of Wallenstein Garden

Visitors to the gardens will be captivated by a massive pavilion, the Sala Terrena monument, a dominant feature of the facility. Its interior paintings and ceiling frescoes are part of the surprises visitors can look forward to.

Another highlight of Wallenstein Garden is the artificial cave known as grotto. The cave once served as a cool shelter for those who dwelt in the palace.

The Riding Hall is another source of pride for the gardens. It once served as a fortification until the end of WWI. It turned into a Car repair service facility but became part of the seat of the Senate in 1996. In the modern-day, the Senate often rents the hall for exhibitions to the National Gallery.

Sculptures and fountains are other features visitors to the Wallenstein Garden will appreciate. In front of the Sala Terrena, is a fountain with a sculpture of Venus and Cupid. There are several other sculptures including the walking horse and the horse with a snake.

Visitors will also enjoy plenty of fauna and flora. Flowers, oak, and maple trees decorate the atmosphere with color. Animals like Indian and white peacocks, wild ducks, and Eurasian eagle-owls enhance the charm of the garden space. The pond in the garden boasts an array of ornamental fish to admire.

During summer the garden attracts concerts and theatrical performances to expect. The garden’s convenient location also adds to its magic, it can be accessed via public transit as several tram stops are spread nearby. The Malostranská subway station is next to the garden’s entrance.

More details including the calendar of events can be accessed on the Wallenstein Garden website.
