Top 8 Vintage Shops in Lisbon

Nothing gets me quite as excited as a good thrift shop can! To my absolute delight, almost all of Lisbon’s worthwhile vintage shops congregate in the heart of the city center.

To make things even sweeter, most of Lisbon’s vintage stores adopt the same hours of operation; closing on Sundays and opening between midday and 8pm the rest of the week. This makes it easy to stroll between them for one full day of thrifting.

The following are my go-to’s. A good thrifter knowns that the early bird really does get the worm; don’t sleep on any of these!

1. Ás de Espadas in Lisbon

My favorite thrift stores are the eccentric ones. The ones with clothing that looks like it was swiped from the costume box backstage at a circus performance. These one’s are where you find the real gems.

If you’ve already done your free guided walking tour through Chiado then you’ve walked right past Ás de Espadas, or Ace of Spades.

This is quality Lisbon vintage; if you prefer to shop name brands and luxury fashion, this is the place. Pricier than the rest of the vintage shops in the area, but you’re paying for the quality.

2. Retro City Lisboa in Lisbon

One thing everyone needs is a good quality, vintage jacket from the bygone years when clothing was made to last instead of made to be fast. Retro City is a treasure trove for leather, military, faux fur and retro bomber jackets that have survived the ages.

Their collection of imported, preserved kimonos and old school jeans are also what attract a lot of their customers.

Because Retro City is close to Lisbon’s university town, prices are very affordable! Yay!

3. Electric Tiger Vintage Shop in Lisbon

Back in Chiado, also within the streets used for the guided walking tours, is Electric Tiger Vintage. Firstly, this store doesn’t open during the morning at all, so keep in mind that 1pm is the earliest that you can visit, and not on Sundays or Mondays at all.

Aside from the confusing hours, this is undoubtably the best vintage store in the city. Collectors and lovers of slow fashion will revel in the hoards of quality vintage wear that has clearly been sourced by people who know more than just a thing or two about fashion.

4. A Outra Face da Lua in Lisbon

A Outra Face da Lua is a refreshing take on the thrift shopping process. The thrift shop is curated around the perimeter of the store, and a cafe sits in the center.

This is a wonderful spot to combine a light brunch followed by some very well sourced vintage shopping. You can tell the staff adore working here just by the ambiance of the space, interacting with them throughout your visit will confirm this inkling.

5. Heartcore Vintage Clothing in Lisbon

Heartcore is a hit or a miss, and your success here depends largely on how recently a clothing drop was done and what was found. It’s the kind of place where you need to get to before Lisbon’s trendiest individuals do, because they know to come sooner rather than later.

This is one of the top spots for vintage jewelry and accessories. A lot of rare pieces to be found; again, you’ll pay for quality here.

6. The World of Vintage in Lisbon

If there’s one vintage store outside of the very center of Lisbon that I don’t mind making the journey to its the World of Vintage. I say “outside of the very center” as if it’s far, but it’s merely a metro stop or two from the rest of them.

This is a vintage and antique store combined. You can shop clothing and you can shop furniture. Like Heartcore, this can be a hit or a miss when it comes to the clothing. When it’s good, it’s really good. When it’s bad, it’s really bad.

7. Pop Closet in Lisbon

The Pop Closet is back in Chiado and is very well curated, gently worn vintage clothing. You’ll find Chanel, Fendi and Alexander Wang with ease, amongst a great collection of timeless, nameless pieces.

This is also the one vintage shop in Lisbon that will source specific brands for you upon request.

8. Tropical Bairro in Lisbon

The last spot I want to recommend is Tropical Bairro situated on the edge of Lisbon’s oldest neighborhood, the Alfama.

This vintage shop shares its space with a record store. It’s a beautiful space with the kindest staff who want to help you find something, whatever it takes! A small business I am always happy to support.
