Top 10 Remarkable Facts about Lai Kuan-lin

Lai Kuan-lin was born on 23^rd September 2001 in Taipei, Taiwan. He is mononymously known as Guanlin. He is prominently known as a Taiwanese singer, actor, and rapper who is currently based in China and South Korea.

His English name is Edward. He spent about five years of his early life in Los Angeles, United State until he later returned to Taiwan. He attended his high school in New Taipei, Lin-Kou High School which is located in Linkou District Taiwan.

His prominence came as a result of finishing seventh in a boy group survival reality show in 2017, in the second season. He belonged to the “Wanna One” group which is a boy band formed during the production of produce 101 (season two).

Lai Kuan-lin joined together with Wooseok and Pentagon as Wooseok x Kuanlin under Cube Entertainment in the year 2019.

1. Lai Kuan-lin Engaged in the Second Season of Produce 101

Produce 101 was a 2017 boy group survival reality show and the second season of the original South Korean version of the franchise. Lai was chosen by an entertainment company, Cube Entertainment during the Cube Star World Audition In 2016 held in Taiwan.

He was involved in Produce 101 to represent Cube Entertainment. He was ranked seventh with 905,875 votes which earned him a place in the boy group Wanna One which was under YMC Entertainment.

2. He is a Skincare Brand Ambassador

Although Lai Kuan-lin is based in South Korea as an active member of the Wanna one, he is also very active in China. While in South Korea, he receives great offers from the skincare brand Dr. Jart, as their brand ambassador.

This has resulted in the tremendous growth of the company and has contributed greatly to its success.

The company received over 900 million KRW when the products endorsed were sold in about 56 minutes.

3. He Focused on Solo Activities After Wanna One Disbandment

The Wanna One group was disbanded on 31^st December 2018. The Cube Entertainment that had contracted him announced that he would henceforth focus on solo activities in China.

He joined a new boy group later in the year and was established to be a guest in various shows including Happy Camp. Early in the following year, Lai was confirmed to be the male lead in the drama “A Little Thing Called First Love”.

Lai among other two individuals was chosen for the TBJ clothing Brand as a new model.

4. Lai Held his First Fan Meeting at the Olympic Hall in Seoul

Lai held his first ever fan meeting known as the Good Feeling at the Olympic Hall in Seoul. This was followed by another meeting held on 20^th April in the most populous city of Thailand, Bangkok.

The other followed on 30^th April in the Republic of Singapore and on the 4^th and 10^th of May in Taipei City. 

5. The Court Ruled Over the End of his Contract with Cube Entertainment

On 17^th June 2021, the Seoul Central District Court presided over the contract case between Lai Kuan-lin and Cube Entertainment. However, the court ruled in favor of Lai which enabled him to end the contract with Cube Entertainment.

This led to the close of a two-year case which began in 2019 after Lai requested to end the contract.

Lai claimed that Cube Entertainments had sold some of his artist management rights to a third party in China without involving him.

6. Lai is a Sensational Brands Influencer and Ambassador 

 He has been an ambassador for the MGTV International APP which was established in 2006 in Changsha.

He has also endorsed Nongfu Spring which is a Chinese bottled water and beverage company. Other products include; Downy, Perfect Diary, Wolong Nuts, VILLAS Lipstick, and Belleair.

7. He Publicly Announced his Support for Cotton from Xinjiang

Lai Kuan-lin publicly announced his support of cotton from Xinjiang though many companies showed their concern about human rights. The Xinjiang internment camps were criticized by the governments for their abuse of human rights.

Some of the human rights abuses included; rape, torture, some alleging genocide, and mistreatment.

A Taiwanese politician condemned the act of some celebrities supporting Xinxiang’s cotton claiming they are selfish.

8. He Expressed Gratitude in the Last Concert Wanna One

Lai expressed his great gratitude to his member after the last concert performance by hugging every member. They were ten of them on the stage and since he was leaving first he hugged them all.

He showed his gratitude to everyone since they all took care of him all the while when they were promoting. He was also very grateful for the good time they had spent together in unity as members.

9. Lai Kuan-lin has Featured in Several Television Series

Lai Kuan-lin being a very young star with a lot of talents has featured in several television series. They include; “A Little Thing Called First Love” in 2019, by playing the role of Liang Younian on Hunan TV.

In 2021, he was featured in the series “Don’t Disturb My Study” where he played the role of Lin Xiao Ran on Mango TV.

He was also the Lead Role in 2022, in the series “Love the Way You Are” where he played the role of Xu Guang Xi in iQiyi.

10. He is Outstanding and has Won Several Awards and Nominations

He won the Next Generation Influencers for Global Philanthropy in 2019 during the China Youth Public Welfare Award Ceremony.

He also won the Best Newcomer in 2019 during the Golden Bud – The Fourth Network Film and Television Festival.

He won the Person of the Year (Beauty) in 2019, during the Cosmo Glam Night.
