The “made in Italy” continues to grow year after year on the world stage.
Italian brands are known and appreciated by everyone in the world. The quality of the products and the production processes make all products unique and unrepeatable.
In Italy, there are several brands and products made with masterful skills.
I will introduce you to some of the most famous Italian brands, their history and their products. In this way, once in Italy, you will know what to look for and where!

1. Gucci

The Italian brand Gucci is a luxury fashion house based in Florence, Italy.
Guccio Gucci founded the Maison Gucci back in 1921. He opened his first shop in Via Della Vigna Nuova number 7 in Florence. Under the direction of Aldo Gucci, son of Guccio, the brand became famous and appreciated all over.
In London and at Palm Beach they opened new stores in 1961.  As a result, the Jackie Bag was launched and immediately the bag became very famous worldwide.
In this way, Gucci became the representative brand of the Italian Dolce Vita.
Later, in 2011, to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the brand, the “Gucci Museum” was opened inside the Palazzo Della Mercanzia in Florence.
Already in 2019, the Gucci brand had 487 stores.

2. Acqua di Parma

Acqua di Parma is an Italian lifestyle and fashion company exclusively made in Italy.
Their first perfume is known as “Colonia” and was created in 1916 in a small perfumery located in the centre of Parma.
In 1930 the perfume achieved great success all over Europe.
Only in 1993, the brand had a new life thanks to Luca Di Montezemolo, Diego Della Valle and Paolo Borgomanero.
In 1998 the first Boutique was opened in Milan in Via del Gesù and then in Paris, Spain and Miami. Acqua di Parma creates luxury perfumes, home fragrances, home collections. Each product represents the colours of the Mediterranean and Italy.

3. Ferrari

When it comes to Italian brands, I can’t help but tell you about Ferrari.
If you can afford it or not, you still have to find the opportunity to admire it and why not… try it on the circuit!
The Ferrari Scuderie was born in 1929 thanks to Enzo Ferrari and based in Maranello in the province of Modena.
Nowadays the Italian car manufacturer produces high-end sports cars and is engaged in motorsports.
If you are wondering why the official Ferrari symbol is a horse then you must know that the prancing horse derives from the one used during the First World War by the Italian aviator Francesco Baracca. Baracca’s mother handed over the symbol to Enzo Ferrari in 1923 as a good luck charm.  Later the horse became the emblem of the Ferrari brand.

4. Trussardi

Trussardi by Unknown – Wikipedia

Trussardi is a fashion house founded in 1911 by Dante Trussardi.
Initially, they produced luxury leather gloves. Later in 1970, the company expanded its leather goods products. The range of Trussardi products is rapidly expanded with the offer of suitcases, bags, clothing and household items.
In the 1980s, Trussardi launched its first prêt-à-porter line, high fashion jeans and perfumes for men and women. In the 90s the brand established itself on the Italian and Japanese market.
Today Trussardi is the symbol of fashion and design completely made in Italy.

5. Valentino

The Valentino brand was created in 1960 by Valentino Garavani.
He opened a store on Via Dei Condotti in Roma. His international debut took place in Florence in 1962 with a first fashion show at Palazzo Pitti. Already in 1968, the Women Wear Daily magazine defined the Valentino brand as “the king of Italian fashion”.
Some famous clients of Valentino were: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Marella Agnelli, Princess Margaret of Windsor, Elizabeth Taylor and many more!
To date, the Italian brand Valentino includes men’s and women’s high fashion. Its selected products are created for a higher end of the market and are unique pieces handmade in the Roman atelier.

6. Dolce & Gabbana

The Dolce and Gabbana fashion house was founded in 1985 in Milan by the stylists Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
The first collection of the two designers was shown in 1985 during Milan Fashion Week with the Real Women collection.
In 1987 they launched a line of sweaters and underwear and costumes for the sea and above all evening dresses for a high-end market.
Dolce and Gabbana made clothes for Madonna and the Drowned World Tour of her, Missy Elliot, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige and Whitney Houston, Kylie Minogue.

7. Lamborghini

Lamborghini is an Italian automobile manufacturer founded on 07 May 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini. Initially, the company produced tractors.
To date, their headquarters are located in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the company employs about 1,500 employees.
It is said that the birth of the Lamborghini is due to the quarrel between Enzo Ferrari and Ferruccio over a Ferrari 250 Gt that did not work correctly. Between 1965 to 1972 the Italian automobile manufacturer had rapid success especially with the birth of the Miura, a rear-engined car. The management of the company has changed many times and is now an integral part of the Audi brand.

8. Moschino

This wonderful Italian fashion house was founded in 1983 by Franco Moschino.
In the same year, the first line dedicated to women was presented in the city of Milan.
In 1986 Moschino Jeans and the  Eau de Toilette perfume line was born.
To celebrate the success over time, on 25 February 2010, the Maison Moschino Hotel was inaugurated in Milan.
In 2015 the first flagship store opened in Los Angeles and a new boutique in Milan in Piazza Gae Aulenti, in the area known as Porta Nuova. The Italian brand has original and fantastic products. If you are searching for something very different look for their products!
