He was born on April 20, 1954, in Nassau, the capital city of Bahamas, in the constituency of Bain Town. He grew up among eleven siblings. He became a Christian in his teens. He attended Oral Roberts University (ORU). In 1978, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Education, and Theology. He continued to pursue a master’s degree in administration which he achieved in 1980 from the University of Tulsa. He authored many books which gave him recognized by Oral Roberts University where he received an honorary doctoral degree from various institutions of higher learning. He also lectured as an adjunct professor at the same university in the Graduate School of Theology.

Munroe became a Christian during his teenage years, later attending Oral Roberts University (ORU) where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Education, and Theology in 1978 and a Master’s degree in administration from the University of Tulsa in 1980. Munroe was also the recipient of honorary doctoral degrees from various schools of higher education and served as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Theology at ORU. He gained fame as a founder of the Bahamas Faith Ministries, a writer, preacher, thinker, leader, publisher, motivational speaker, and writer of many books.

Together with his close friend Dave from Oral Roberts University, they founded the Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI) located at Carmichael Rd, Nassau, Bahamas. The founding team included Pastors Dave and Angie Burrows, Dr. Munroe, and his wife Ruth Munroe. However, he founded BFMI and MMI after his graduation from the University of Tulsa in the early 1980s.

Munroe was a Bahamian evangelist, ordained minister avid professor of the Kingdom of God. He authored many books. He was a great motivational speaker and a leadership consultant. Founder and leader of Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI). He also founded Myles Munroe International (MMI). In addition, he was a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and chairman of the board of the International Third World Leaders Association. What’s more, he was president of the International Leadership Training Institute.

2. His Remarkable Educational Achievements

Born Myles Egbert Munroe in 1954 in Nassau, Bahamas, Munroe grew up poor in a family of eleven children. Raised in the Nassau constituency of Bain Town, he was a lifelong resident of the Commonwealth. Munroe became a Christian during his teenage years, later attending Oral Roberts University (ORU) where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Education, and Theology in 1978 and a Master’s degree in administration from the University of Tulsa in 1980. Munroe was also the recipient of honorary doctoral degrees from various schools of higher education and served as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Theology at ORU. He wrote a number of books that have great inspirational messages. Among his many other achievements, he had 100 spiritual and inspirational works. He was also a government and business consultant to Fortune 500 businesses. He traveled to over 130 countries. 

3. He founded Bahamas Faith Ministries International

4. He was Honored and Awarded for His Services

In 1998, he was given The British Empire (OBE) award for services to religion. In the same year, he was awarded the Bahamian Silver Jubilee Award for service to the Bahamas in the area of “spiritual, social, and religious development”. Later in 2004, the institution of higher learning, Oral Roberts University awarded him an Alumnus of the Year Award.

7. His Remarkable Visit to Kenya

Munroe visited Kenya in October 2014 before he died in a plane crash in the Bahamas 0n November 9, 2014. In an interview with one of the famous television anchors and host of KTN’s Jeff Kionange Live show commonly known as JKL Show, he stated that he would love to die. The show was hosted on October 24, his words were “I want to challenge every Kenyan to go to the cemetery and disappoint the graveyard. Die like the Apostle Paul who said I have finished my course, I have kept the faith and I have been poured out like a drink offering. There is nothing left. I am ready to die. That’s how I wanna die because there is nothing else for me left to die,” he told the show’s host, Jeff Koinange. He also added these words “When you die, die like I am planning to die. Empty. It’s finished.” This was the last show before his death and also part of his death prophesy.

8. He was mourned by the Christian Body Globally

Munroe died on November 9, 2014, after the Executive private Lear 36 Jet he traveled in struck a shipping crane as they attempted to land at Grand Bahamas.  His death was a pain to the people that he touched through his motivational speaking, his church, and the body of Christ worldwide. His death happened when the aircraft struck a crane at a shipyard near Grand Bahama International Airport. He died alongside his wife Ruth, six officials of BFMI, and two pilots.

9. His Family

Munroe married his wife Ruth in 1978. Together, they had two children, a son Chairo or Myles Jr., and a daughter Charisa. In addition, they founded the two ministries BFMI and MMI together. Unfortunately, Munroe and his wife died on November 9, 2014, in a plane crash in the Bahamas.

10. He spoke about his Death

Munroe’s last preaching was a prophecy of his death as analyzed by Christians worldwide. His words were “I am ready to die… I wanna die because there is nothing else to keep me alive.” Those words, including those that he spoke during his visit to Kenya during a television interview, are what many call the premonition of his own death.
