Where to drink the best Coffee in Miami

Coffee culture in Miami is very different when compared to other states in the US. In South Florida, café cubano is not just a drink. Thanks to the Cuban Revolution, it is enjoyed and celebrated as a part of the culture.

Miami’s coffee culture can’t be separated from its Latino influences. Over 60 years of Cuban migration has helped create a culture with an approach to enjoying coffee that differs from most major US cities.

Miami is a melting pot of coffee culture. First came the Cubans with their café con leches and cafecitos, which add a thimble of rocket fuel to the afternoons.

Then there’s the Europeans with their French presses and espressos. South Americans arrived with arguably the world’s best beans and an appreciation for java all their own. Finally, the folks from Seattle spread an American coffee tradition that then spawned local shops making all kinds of fancy coffee drinks to go with our favorite Miami breakfast sandwiches and other hangover cures.

These days you can find a good cup of joe at these incredible coffee shops in Miami. Furthermore, that heavenly cup of coffee you so eagerly await each morning can extend your life. Recent studies determined that drinking a moderate amount of coffee, even with one teaspoon of sugar, can be beneficial to your health.

Named for his grandfather and inspired by his family’s Cuban heritage, restaurateur Jason Odio’s Bebito’s Cafecito aims to give the city a new place to enjoy its much-loved coffee break.

Bebito’s is a cafe just off Alton Road in South Beach with a ton of seating, some good coffee, and a small menu of mostly Cuban breakfast items.

It’s a really solid spot to take a meeting since it’s quieter than 99 % of the other coffee shops in South Beach, and there’s secluded seating upstairs where you can have a relatively private chat. There’s also some outdoor seating on the patio.

Whether it’s a latte in the morning with a flaky chocolate croissant or a midday pick-me-up in the form of a cappuccino and a guava-and-cheese danish, Bebito’s serves all kinds of delicious caffeinated drinks as well as an array of Latin-inspired pastries and healthy baked goods.

Alaska Coffee Roasting started in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1993 with a focus on roasting and preparing the best coffee in the world.

This Aventura coffee shop may have its roots in Alaska but is now very much part of the South Florida bean scene.

The shop roasts all its coffee beans on-site to ensure the just right cup. Bonus factor? It also has a wood-fire oven so guests can even have pizza with its coffee. May sound odd, but isn’t that combo what got everyone through college?

While they’re serious about coffee, they also offer a vast array of made-from-scratch foods; pizzas (wood-fired pizza) and sandwiches cooked to perfection in the wood-fired oven, decadent pastries, and incredible soups and salads.

You can get it hot or (if it’s the usual 1,000 degrees outside) frozen. They also have more straightforward coffee options, like espresso, macchiato, or lattes.

Additionally, they offer handmade products from Locals – Jewelry, Local honey, Bohemian Purses and Tapestries, Locally made soy candles, homemade cakes, essential oils, Incense Make your gift box with all Eco friendly products locally made.

If you’re in North Beach, check out Cachito Cafe. They have a really long coffee menu with everything from a dulce de leche latte to a cortadito. But another good reason to stop by this place is for the food.

Their empanadas are great and the affordable breakfast sandwiches will do the trick if your stomach has been growling from the second you woke up.

They have indoor and outdoor seating, and this place works best for small groups of two or four.

This is where the hustle-and-bustle Downtown folks fuel up between meetings, court dates and everything else that goes on in this hurried part of the city.

It’s the perfect place for the worker who feels that afternoon fog coming on and the person on the go who can quickly grab a cafecito from the takeout window.

The Colombian coffee shop gets its beans fresh from Colombian growers. There are beans from other major coffee-producing regions in Ethiopia and Guatemala but we prefer to stick to the shop’s native bean here—it’s delicious.

While the rest of the country has been drinking great coffee for years, Miami has been seriously lacking. While the city might have some great Cuban coffee spots, proper coffee shops have been harder to come by until now.

A new crop of great coffee spots are showing up all over the Magic City and above are the best of the best.
