Neymar JR Net Worth: Everything to know about his Contracts, Fortune…

Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior popularly recognized as Neymar Jr is one of the biggest footballing stars in the world today. Born on 5th February 1992, Neymar currently plays for French giant club Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil national team.

Neymar is a revered playmaker and goal-scorer who has risen through the ranks from Santos in Brazil to Barcelona and then to his current home in Paris. He plays primarily as a left winger although Neymar is a versatile player who has time and time again been utilized on the right flank and even as a striker.

As one of the best players of his generation, many clubs are after Neymar’s services and therefore this means he is paid incredible fees to keep him. Neymar is one of the highest-paid athletes on the planet currently earning $78 million (roughly €74 or £63.5 million) annually.

His salary is not Neymar’s only source of income and therefore over the years, Neymar has accumulated a high net worth. It is estimated that Neymar has a net worth upward of 200 million dollars. This article will therefore break down Neymar’s salary, contracts with sponsorship brands, and his fortune.

Contracts at Santos

Neymar began his football journey at a young age and was signed by Santos in 2003. However, it was not until he turned 17 that he signed his first professional contract with Santos. The contract paid Neymar $1.7 million per year.

After realizing that Neymar was destined for greatness, Santos offered Neymar a long-term contract worth $20 million. Neymar rejected the offer since he wanted a bigger challenge (in Europe) but he signed a short-term contract with Santos worth $4 million per year. Not bad at all for a teenager, but pennies compared to what he’s making today.

Contracts at Barcelona

Neymar’s transfer from Santos to Barcelona was controversial, to say the least. Neymar announced he was signing for Barcelona on 27th May and was unveiled on 3rd June 2013. Josep Bartomeu (Then Barcelona Vice-President) announce that his transfer fee was €57.1 million (roughly $60 million).

However, it was later revealed that Neymar cost €86.2 million. Barcelona and Bartomeu were charged with tax fraud in the aftermath. The club paid a €4.4 million fine. On signing with Barcelona, Neymar signed a $119 million contract. This summed up to $15 million of salary annually from the Catalan club.

Contracts At PSG

While the move to Barcelona was controversial, it looked like a walk in the park compared to the transfer from Barcelona to PSG. Since Barcelona was not accepting bids for Neymar, his legal representatives paid his release clause worth €222 million (over $263 million) directly to the club. (As per La Liga regulations, every player has to have a release clause in their contracts.)

Thus, Neymar became the most expensive player ever (a record that stands to date). La Liga refused to accept the payment citing a violation of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules by PSG so the fee was paid directly to Barcelona. This is scenario is why Barcelona are putting excessively high release clauses on the contracts of their best young players such as Pedri, Ansu Fati, Gavi, and Ferran Torres.

Under the terms of his deal with PSG in 2017, Neymar earned a then-record-breaking fee of $1.02 million per week, roughly $53 million annually in salary alone. On 8th May 2021, Neymar extended his contract with PSG until 2025.

There are numerous performance bonuses in his new contract, including a sizable increase if PSG wins the Champions League. His yearly compensation is stated as €56.36 million, or before taxes which adds up to around €30 million ($36.5 million) per season/year after tax. This makes Neymar the third-highest-paid footballer behind his other PSG teammates Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Endorsement Deals

Other than the money from salary and performance-based bonuses from the club, a huge portion of Neymar’s income comes from brand endorsement deals. Neymar is a professional footballer but he is a football star who can be described as a superstar. Like many other superstars, this makes Neymar a walking and talking advert for the consumers of several brands around the globe.

As of 2022, Neymar is the most branded footballer with 35 endorsement deals. In 2013 he was rated by SportsPro magazine as the most marketable athlete in the world which explains why many brands have signed him since.

In 2011, Neymar signed an 11-year deal as the face of the sportswear brand Nike. However, he ended the contract prematurely in 2020 and signed with Puma. The Nike deal earned Neymar a total of $210 million in the years he was signed with them. While signed under Nike, he launched several products such as the Nike Hypervenom football boot in 2013.

The Puma deal as of 2020, is earning Neymar a whopping $24.5 million per year (before tax). Along with Red Bull, he is supported by DAZN, REPLAY JEANS, GAGA MILANO, Epic Games (the creators of Fortnite), Triller, BEATS BY DRE, TCL, Flutter Entertainment, McDonald’s, Konami, Activision (makers of Call of Duty), Meta, Netflix, Qatar Airways, and Qatar National Bank. All in all, Neymar earns in excess of $25 million from these endorsements.

In addition to playing football, Neymar has dabbled in a few other activities. He recently made an appearance in the film “XXX: Return of Xander Cage”. Neymar also made a cameo in the Netflix series “Money Heist.” He also made available a downloadable set of his emojis.

In 2022, Neymar released the much-anticipated documentary which provides a look at his life and career. The documentary was titled Neymar: The Perfect Chaos and was released in 2022 on Netflix. It has a 6.6/10 rating on IMDB.

If you’ve seen Neymar or videos and images of him outside a football pitch or training ground, then you know he does it big! And rightfully so, as they say, work hard, play hard. He wears a lot of jewelry, and designer clothes and drives the most luxurious of vehicles.

Neymar has a great and massive car collection. The collection includes a Lamborghini Veneno ($4.5M), Aston Martin Vulcan ($2.3 M), Maserati Mc12 ($2M), Ferrari 458 Italia ($239,340), Range Rover SVA ($220,000), and McLaren 570S ($210,990).

Other cars in his catalog include; Audi RS7, Mercedes AMG GT S, Porsche Panamera Turbo, and a Ford F-150 Raptor. Neymar also owns a private jet. The plane is a Cessna Citation Sovereign (Model 680) which is purchased under Neymar Sport E-Marketing. The estimated value of the jet is 17 million Euros.

Besides the flashy lifestyle that he leads, Neymar remains humble and true to his roots. In Praia Grande (where Neymar grew up), Neymar opened up Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr. The institute helps transform the lives of poor children through education, sporting activities, and art.

In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, Neymar gave 5 million Brazilian Real to charity. The funds were divided between UNICEF and a Brazilian relief organization. He has also supported causes that aim to find sources of pure water.

So, What Is Neymar’s Net Worth?

According to several sources, Neymar’s net worth as of 2022 is $200 million. This sum has been amassed thanks to his salary from club contracts, performance-based bonuses, endorsement deals, and investments. However, this valuation is an estimation from public figures and information that has been publicized.
