Overall, she is quite famous as both an actress and a singer who made a studio album as her first debut which actually earned her a Grammy Award. As an actress, she has also been very successful even going on to receive the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in Motion Picture and Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.  Her role in Ugly Betty was especially good and here, people got to see the comic side of her. FYI: Vanessa Williams was the first African-American woman to achieve the title, of Miss America.
