Key West is the southernmost city in the United States. It is the westernmost Island connected along the highway in Florida. Key West is the southernmost point in the United States. The southern point is identified and marked with a small painted wooden sign. The southernmost point is a landmark which is located at the corner of whitehead street. It is also a private island on the south street in key west Florida.

The port of Key West includes Key West Bight and Garrison Bigit at City Marina. It has a tree dock utilized by cruise ships. The first cruise ship to adopt the port was the Sunward. It was docked at per B which was owned by the US navy. The city opened a cruise terminal at Mallory square in 1984

Key West island has a rich history that has played an important role in most of the events of the civil war. The southernmost city in unites meant that naval and other vessels spent time docked on the island. The three forts helped to protect the U.S from invasion.

Some of the historic sites in Key West include of 

  • Truman Little White House. It was built in the 1890s and acted as a quarter for the Naval Base Commander and Paymaster.  President William Taft visited the little house in 1912  and later Thomas Edison lived in that house for several months. He worked on inventing new weapons. The president met with the joint chiefs of staff, worked on the Marshall Plan, and the Truman Doctrine, and continued attending to his duties while he enjoyed the magnificent setting in Key  West.  It has become a stunning historic building. That has made visitors over the world visit to know a glimpse of Truman’s world. 
  • Sails to Rails Museum Admission is located in historic Key West Bight.  It gives a chance to discover the state-of-the-art museum with hands-on exhibits, raw footage, unique artifacts, and the scale model of Fort Jefferson at Dry Tortugas National Park. Traveling to Key West helps in uncovering the history of sponging, turtling, fishing, cigar making, and tourism that has put  Key West on the map.

It has amazing scenery that provides a sense of history and watching tropical birds swooping in the air.
