Kyle Steven Edmund is a British professional tennis star. He was born on 8th January 1995 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Kyle’s father, Steven was born in Wales, raised in Zimbabwe and lived in South Africa. His mother, Denise was born and raised in South Africa.

Kyle and his family moved from South Africa to Britain when he was three years old and grew up in the village of Tickton, near Beverly, East Riding of Yorkshire. The father of Kyle is a director of a renowned renewable energy company.

The parents of Kyle had to invest lots of money in their son’s tennis career until sponsor-provided funding. Kyle has a ranking of world number fourteen and he was a top-ranked male British tennis player in the year March 2018 to October 2019.

Kyle’s career has been perfect with the wins and participation in various competitions. He became the sixth British man to play in a major singles semi-final in the Open Era and is a semi-finalist in the Australian Open.

Before turning out to be a professional, Kyle Edmund used to stay in the United Kingdom. However, in December 2017, Kyle decided to move his official residence from the UK to Nassau, Bahamas.

Kyle aimed to maximise his off-season preparation due to the warmer climate and be closer to the United States. This relocation brought up a lot of criticism with many suggesting that he was a financial opportunist and majorly motivated by the tax.

The first coach of Kyle Edmund was Richard Plews who introduced him to tennis in 2005. Richard Plews coached Kyle until 2008. John Black coached him from 2009 to 2011.

In 2011, coach Colin Beecher took over till 2014. Greg Rusedski took over as Kyle’s coach from 2013 to 2014. In 2014, James Trotman coached Kyle Edmund to 2015.

Ryan Jones then coached Kyle from 2016 to 2017 when Mark Hilton took over till 2019 alongside Fredrik Rosengren. In 2020, Kyle was coached by Franco Davin. Colin Beecher is currently the coach of Kyle since 2019.

9. Kyle Suffered a Chronic Injury Missing Out on 2021 Australian Open

Kyle Edmund has never suffered a major setback that has affected his tennis career. However, in 2021, Kyle suffered a very chronic injury.

Kyle got a chronic injury on his left knee which essentially ended his season and made him miss out on the 2021 Australian Open. Kyle had to undergo a knee operation in Switzerland in March 2021 and began the rehabilitation process.

His return from injury was not that perfect at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. He partnered with Olivia Nicholls but they lost in the first round.
