Victor Joseph Garber was born on March 16, 1949, in London, Ontario, Canada. He is the son of Joseph Garber and Hope Garber. He has a brother Nathen and a sister Alisa.

His mother hosted a Tv show in London and she was an actress and a singer just like her son. He is married to a Canadian artist and model Rainer Andreesen.

He is a Canadian actor and singer. Victor is known for his work in film, television, and the theatre. At age of 10, he began acting in children’s production at the Grand Theatre in London, Ontario.

When he was 16, he dropped out of high school and moved to Toronto to pursue a performing career. Victor formed a band called Sugar Shoppe with Peter Mann, Lee Harris, and Laurie Hood in the late 1960s.

In 1972, his first acting breakthrough came in a Toronto stage production of Godspell. He has been nominated for 3 Gemini Awards, 4 Tony Awards and 6 Primetime Emmy Awards.

At the age of 10, Victor Garber started acting in children’s production at the Grand Theatre in London, Ontario.

He is an actor and he has been a part of the University of Toronto’s Hart house acting group.

Before joining the Sugar Shoppe to form a folk band with Laurie Hood, Lee Harris, and Peter Mann he had performed various Toronto workshop productions.

He has been in movies such as Titanic (1997), Legally Blonde (2001), Young Again 2010), Dark Water (2019), and Godspell (1973 among others.

Garber has been nominated for 3 Gemini Award, 4 Tony Awards and 6 Primetime Emmy Awards.

In 1979-1980 he established roles in the Broadway production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of the fleet street and in 1983-1985 noises off, acquiring him a Drama Desk Award.

His role in Wenceslas square in 1988 won him an Obie Award and Helen Hayes Award.

From 2001 to 2006, Victor was well known for his roles as Jack Bristow in the drama series Alias on television which won him 3 continuous Primetime Emmy Award nominations as well as attaining a Saturn Award and a Satellite Award.

3. He was Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at Age of 12

Victor Garber was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1992 at age of 12 years. He never allowed the disease to stop him from pursuing and achieving his dream. At 16 he left home and dropped out of school and moved to Toronto to pursue his dream of action despite being sick.

He has been living with the disease for 5 decades. Garber’s second-class cousin suffered from Type 1 Diabetes too.

After he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes Victor was taken to a diabetes camp known as Camp Banting in Ottawa, Ontario.

He states that it was a struggle for him at a young age for he had to do urine testing and boiling the needles for insulin injections for the technology was poor back then.

In 1967 the band enjoyed a rated success and paused into the Canadian Top 40 with a version of Bobby Gimby’s song “Canada”

In 1967 and 1968, the three Sugar Shoppe songs made the lower extents of the Canadian Top 100.

The team performed on The Ed Sullivan Show and The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson before breaking up.
