Put on your walking shoes because the Big Buddha is tucked away in the hills of Lantau Island and requires a 268-step climb! Don’t worry, it will take some time (and many rest stops), but it is certainly possible!

Not only that, but a short distance away is Po Lin Monastery, one of Hong Kong’s most important Buddhist sanctuary and community to several devoted monasteries.

The cable car terminal is located in Ngong Ping Village, which is not a true village. It was designed and produced as a tourist area with shops and restaurants. If you’re hungry, try Honeymoon Dessert for its unique mango desserts and Thai sticky rice. Subway is another restaurant alternative.

The Po Lin Monastery is about a 15-minute walk away. Taxis, public restrooms, and a small bus station are available in the area.

8.If you are looking to visit the amazing scenery be sure to visit during the cold season

Lantau Peak is best visited between October and December, when the weather is cool and dry. Rainy, cloudy weather typically begins in January. The view may then be obscured by clouds and fog.

Summer season are gorgeous, warm, and sunny, but tropical storms do occur on occasion.

9.Take a hike through the beautiful mountain view to explore a little more

Lower-level hike: You don’t have to climb all the way to the peak to take in the panoramas from Lantau Peak. You can stop along the way to take in the scenery and then return.

Nonetheless, you can walk from Pak Kung Au to Lantau Trail in about 2 and a half to 3 hours. Pak Kung Au has a small bus station from which you can take the 3M to Pui O and Mui Wo, or the other way to Tung Chung. Alternatively, take a taxi.

As you’re going downhill to Pak Kung Au, the walk down should be easy. Pak Kung Au is located between Sunset and Lantau Peaks.

If you have the energy, you could continue on and hike the Lantau Trail up to Sunset Peak. A full round trip walk from Pak Kung Au to the top of Sunset Peak and back down to the road takes about 3 to 5 hours, varies based on your fitness.
