Oakville, Ontario, is a town based in Halton Region, Ontario Canada. It is located on Lake Ontario between Toronto and Hamilton towns.

At has had a census population of 213,759 people as of the census taken in 2021. It is part of the Greater Toronto Area, and one of the most densely populated areas in Canada.

Built on the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the early European settlement of Oakville centred around its vast shoreline.

1. It was Founded in 1857

The town of Oakville was founded in 1857 by William Chisholm, who purchased the land at the mouths of the 16-mile and 12-mile (now known as Bronte Creeks).

The town was initially a port for entry of merchants and sailors and their goods into the then British North. America.

The Township of Trafalgar, the Village of Bronte and the Town of Oakville merged in 1962, creating present-day Oakville.

Oakville offers 1,420 hectares of parkland, 150 kilometres of trails and more than 200 parks, garden plots, dog parks, playgrounds, skateboard parks, splash pads, sports fields, tennis courts, and two harbours and 31 waterfront parks.

It also has the lowest crime rate among all the municipalities with a population of over 100000 citizens.

Among Ontario’s big 12 police services it has the lowest overall crime rate, lowest violent crime rate and lowest property crime rate.

Law enforcement in Oakville is performed by the Halton Regional Police Service. Fire service is provided by the Oakville Fire Department with its nine fire stations.

Adam Van Koeverden won four Olympic medals in 2004 and he is been Canada’s flag bearer in both opening and closing Olympic ceremonies. He is also the liberal mp for Milton.

Oakville is very easy to access public transit because it has easy access to 3 highways that is the Queen Elizabeth way, Highway 403 and Highway 407.

This makes commuting to and from comfortable. A well-designed network of internal roads also contributes to this.

The Toronto Pearson international airport is about a half an hour’s drive away from Oakville. The world-famous Niagara Falls is also barely an hour from Oakville.
