What's in our tour?

Do you like to sample top-notch foods? Is good French food part of your plans on your trip? Do you like to get to know a country’s culture through its food ? Then our Paris Food sampling tour in Montmartre might be right for you.

We binge on a wide picking of French food. Our food selection is generally organic, all seasonal, and always sinfully tasty.

We sample terrine, smoked hams and garlic sausage. We eat roast provencal poultry. We have chèvre and Brie paired with award-winning baguette. Fresh oyster from Normandy if you like it. And chocolate macaron, chouquette and fruit tart. All are on this menu, with variations to take advantage of every season. The menu also includes wine or a soft drink.

Our food sampling has moved to Montmartre because it has become the center of gourmet foods in Paris.

First we shop for food. And as we shop, we eat and sample. Along the way, we do a bit of sight-seeing. Then we sit down for a proper meal – and we again eat of course. After that, we pick ourselves and go for one final fine food, just to top things off.

We meet outside iconic Moulin Rouge. Sacré Coeur glitters in the distance. We head out to rue Lepic, Montmartre’s historic food market street. Lepic features butchers and bakers. Fish stores and cheese mongers. Oyster stands and specialty food stores. All are family-run and authentic, and all support healthy eating and small-farm economics.

We run across centuries-old food signs and window shops. We visit award-winning food stores, and we chat with engaging purveyors. On the way, we get to explore Montmartre, from Moulin Rouge to Sacré Coeur. Montmartre was once the home of Van Gogh, Picasso and Amélie. It is also Edith Piaf’s favorite song theme, and we find out why.

Your guide is a food lover, with a knack for good stories. S/he is also a local with plenty of insider’s insights to share. As a foodie amongst foodies, your guide also provides anecdotes illustrating how food matters to the French. You’ll discuss the role of food in French culture – in matters of business, politics, and romance.

At the end of the tour, you will not want to eat for a while. But you’ll know new foods. You’ll know how your favorite French specialty is made. And you’ll know how to shop for the best foods in France.

This tour welcomes Vegetarian eaters, with choices available at each stop. Other food restrictions may not be available.
