About this tour
The Süleymaniye Mosque is an Ottoman imperial mosque located on the Third Hill of Istanbul, Turkey. The mosque was commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent and designed by the imperial architect Mimar Sinan.
An inscription specifies the foundation date as 1550 and the inauguration date as 1557. This tour is a great alternative if you have already seen Hagia Sophia, part of the Blue Mosque or are looking for an off-the-beaten-path tour. The tour covers the main attractions of our city but focuses mainly on the hidden gems that are truly “off the beaten track” and gives you facts that you would not know or notice walking alone.
Enjoy a comprehensive guided tour of Suleymaniye Mosque and its complimentary buildings with a professional guide. Afterwards, enjoy breathtaking views over Istanbul from the courtyard and get tips and hints for a gentle stroll around the neighbourhood. End the tour with a cup of Turkish tea and talk about Suleyman the Magnificent and the royal Ottoman family’s life in the 16th century.
