About this tour
Delight in the beauty of the Christianshavn neighbourhood. On this free walking tour of Christianshavn, a historically Bohemian neighbourhood of Copenhagen, you’ll discover a 17th-century district built around a series of canals and is today one of the most exclusive parts of the city. Many refer to the area as “Little Amsterdam”, for its resemblance to the Dutch capital with the waterways, cobblestone streets and Dutch-style homes with colourfully painted façades. Christianshavn’s architecture, canal views and cultural attractions have drawn people from all walks of life to live here. The Christianshavn Tour is our most popular alternative tour, beginning at Højbro Plads next to the equestrian statue of Absalon, the 12th-century warrior-bishop who founded Copenhagen. After learning all about the legendary history of this famous Dane, you’ll make your way over to the islands situated to the east of the city. The guide will end the tour just outside the gates of Christiania, where you can wander at your own will
