Overview
This is where Antoni Gandi forged the beginning of his architectural legacy. The Casa Vicens was Gaudi’s first major architectural project. Manuel Vicens i Montaner, a Catalonian stockbroker, recruited Gaudi to design a summer garden house for him. In 1883 Gaudi present Manuel with the stunning Casa Vicens.
The Casa Vicens architecture is inspired by the patterns found in the natural world. This meticulously designed summer home kick-started the Modernism movement in Europe. The building is as stunning today as it was when it was constructed.
This former holiday home turned to the architectural museum is dedicated to Gaudi’s architectural creativity and originality. The rooftop terrace is accessible to the general public where you can have an aerial view of the surrounding Mediterranean garden dedicated to Saint Rita. To serve as reminders to this magnificent museum pass by the Catalan vaults, now the La Capell bookshop, and get a memento.
