About this tour
Book this tour that will take you from Amsterdam to the rural Dutch countryside and explore the Zaanse Schans windmills, a cheese and clogs shop and the Volendam village. Meet your guide and driver at a central meeting point just across from Central Station in Amsterdam. Settle in for a comfortable, air-conditioned bus ride that will take you to your destination. Be astonished by the windmill village Zaanse Schans which is more of an open-air museum that houses a collection of working windmills, wooden houses, barns and shops dating back to the 18th and 19th Centuries. See the last working windmill on earth which can produce paint which Rembrand van Rijn the great Dutch artist used to buy. Walk the village on your own and ask your guide for clarification after.
You will visit a local cheese and clogs factory for a live session on how they are made. You will taste special Dutch cheese and you are free to buy both the cheese and clogs (wooden shoes) so as to own a little sliver of Holland. Finish storm at Volendam where the local harbour enjoy the sight as you refuel your body in the best fish restaurant in town.
