Zaanse Schans is the first stop where you will be able to take pictures of typical Dutch windmills that are still in use today. The drive will then take you to Volendam a village steeped in the Dutch tradition, you might spot residents in years gone by costumes, and also visit the Volendam museum and old Bakery too. The village is also known for Cheese, music and great fisher folk thus a visit to a local cheese producer, where the cheese master will explain how they produce Gouda and Edam cheeses is on the cards. After a cheesy lesson and tasting grab a bite of fresh seafood. In Volendam, visit the clog factory and see how this Dutch wooden shoe is made. Fittingly, travel back in time to the 17th century by viewing the fishermen’s houses in Marken and walking the fishing harbour.
