About this tour

Feel like escaping the city for a day? It couldn’t be easier. Leave the bustle of the city behind on a countryside bike tour from Amsterdam. Take a leisurely ride along the banks of the Amstel River and hear about local history and rural Dutch traditions, and admire the scenery of the city’s green spaces. The 15-mile (25-kilometre) ride will take you to the outskirts of the city and the countryside beyond, taking breaks along the way so your guide can share information. The majority of the tour is spent riding along the Amstel River through the polder landscape and dikes.

Call into a local farmhouse, where a farmer will introduce you to rural Dutch traditions and sample Gouda cheese and later, watch a demonstration of how clogs are made, after which you might even get the chance to slip on a pair. Wrap up your tour exploring Amsterdam’s parks including Vondelpark, Amsterdamse Bos and Beatrixpark. Bike back to the city alongside the Amstel River and will go under the Rijksmuseum before the end of the tour.
