She was born on June 4, 1943, in South St. Louis. Her father was an American World War II fighter. She graduated from O’Fallon Technical High School in St. Louise. Further, Joyce got married young, immediately after graduating from Senior high school to a part-time car salesman. The married did not last long as they divorced and later, Joyce married Dave Meyer, an engineering draftsman on January 7, 1967. Together, they have four children. As a family, they live outside St. Louise, Missouri. She is a Charismatic Christian author and speaker.
She was an associate pastor at Life Christian Center, Fenton, and later began her own ministry which started as Life in the Word in 1985. She then expanded the airing of her radio program to Chicago and Kansas cities and also began a television ministry on superstation WGN-TV in Chicago and Black Entertainment Television (BET). Her program still runs even today as Enjoying Everyday Life. She received accreditation from Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) in 2009 in conjunction with Oral Roberts University.
