Alan Thicke was born on 1st March 1947 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada. His father was a stockbroker named William Jeffrey and his mum was Shirley Joan Greer who was a nurse. When Alan was about 5 years old, his parents separated and later divorced.

His mother met and married a doctor, Brian Thicke, and the couple settled in Elliot Lake where Alan spent the rest of his childhood. He loved music from a tender age, and he learned how to play the piano and guitar. The boy also played hockey most of the time.

Alan collapsed while playing ice hockey with his son Carter at Pickwick Gardens in Burbank, California on 13th December 2016. He died at the hospital later that day after a sudden and fatal type A aortic dissection, a rare medical event involving a tear in the aorta. He was laid to rest a week later at Santa Barbara Cemetery in Santa Barbara, California.

He was a talented actor, musician, and songwriter who brought joy to countless people through his work.
