Christmas is a holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. It is primarily observed on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world. The exact date of Jesus’ birth is unknown but December 25 was chosen to coincide with pagan festivals of the time. Early Christmas celebrations focused on religious practices such as caroling and church services. During this holiday, a man called Santa Claus who is a jolly gift-giver goes from house to house giving children the gifts they have asked for. 

Some children leave out milk and cookies for Santa Claus and carrots for his reindeer on Christmas Eve. They believe that they will get even more presents if Santa finds the snacks. Aside from gift-giving, many families go out for Christmas caroling on the night of Christmas Eve. It is a night filled with festive melodies and bringing a community together.

1. Deuteronomy 18:15

It says, “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.” The verse is a prophecy about the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. In the verse, Moses speaks about a prophet who will be like him but also greater than him. The prophecy is later fulfilled when Jesus Christ is born.

2. Psalms 34:8

The verse says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Through this verse, we see that God is good and we can take refuge in him. We are safe from harm, and we are filled with His peace and joy. Psalms 34:8 is a reminder that God is a loving and compassionate God. 

3. Psalms 72:10-11

The passage states, “May the kings of Tarshish and the coastlands bring tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts, May all kings fall down before him, all nations serve him.” The verses are a prophecy for the rule of Jesus. He was sent to earth by God to save us and connect us to God. Jesus is the true king of the world which is why the verse states that all kings will bring him gifts and serve him.

4. Psalms 117

7. Isaiah 7:14
