Where to Find Paris’ Coziest Cafes
Perhaps one of the most important parts of the Parisian lifestyle is the café culture.
It’s no secret that Parisians spend much of their time sitting at cafés elegantly sipping an espresso while watching the world go by, people watching, or reading.
Parisians know to pass the day sipping coffee out on terraces in beautiful locations like it’s a national sport, but what about when the weather starts to get cold and dreary as it does for so many months?
Sure enough, there are plenty of cozy cafés with lush interiors and delectable treats to keep you occupied during the many winter months of Paris.
Kozy Café
79 Avenue Bosquet, 75007 & 46 Rue la Fayette, 75009
Ah. Kozy Café. Their address in the 7th arrondisement was my café of choice back in my student days. It’s the perfect place to take a much-needed break in any hectic Parisian schedule, and as soon as you are through the doors you are greeted by their friendly and accommodating staff.
There’s simply just something about Kozy that makes it the perfect place to curl up with a book for a few hours but also a great environment to get some work done (lots of last-minute essays were written here with the help of their delicious lattes).
For any café there are two important criteria that determine whether it is cozy or not: the food / drinks and the vibe. It’s very easy to say that Kozy hits the nail on the head for both of these requirements. Not only do they have amazing coffee, they also have an assortment of salads, sandwiches and quiches that are made daily. They always are sure to have a great vegetarian option as well!
The vibe is eclectic, but also minimal enough to not be too distracting for those of us with deadlines. The best part? The staff actually really care about their customers, something that can be somewhat of a rarity in Paris. I studied back in 2014, but four years later the owner / barista actually remembered me.
For those reasons, Kozy Café is at the top of our list for coziest cafés in Paris.
Le Peloton Café
17 Rue du Pont Louis-Philippe, 75004
La Peloton Café is the café version of a warm hug from an old friend. The aroma of the café is always that of waffles- which they make from scratch in house. The energy inside this café is very special when compared to the normal bustling speed of Paris.
This is the place to go if you want to make a friend or gain a familiar face in Paris- all of the staff are very welcoming and interested to hear about your time in Paris and where you’re from. If you’re looking for a cozy and friendly place, Le Peloton surely won’t let you down.
La Caféothèque
52 Rue de l’Hôtel de ville, 75004
If you’re looking for a cozy café in Paris that is serious about coffee, then it’s time to check out La Caféothèque. Specializing in the finest coffees from all over the world, you are bound to learn more about coffee just from visiting here. A truly unique place in Paris, La Caféothèque is coffee done right.
Due to the popularity of the place, this might not be the ideal place to come with your laptop expecting to get loads of work done. Instead, come here with the idea of exploring a new type of coffee and basking in the moment and perhaps getting some people-watching done. That’s how the Parisians would do it, anyway.

Fringe Café
106 Rue de Turenne, 75003
Perhaps off all of the cozy cafés on our list, Fringe Café is the most artistic and beautiful. A café dedicated to coffee, wonderful food, and photography, this makes it a go-to spot for any creative individual looking to spend time in an inspiring environment.
The staff is amazing, the food is as colorful as it is delicious, and the café itself features rotating artist exhibitions making it a perfect spot for any daydreamer in need of a cozy hangout.
Café Loustic
40 Rue Chapon, 75003
Another excellent option for a cozy cafe in Paris is none other than the Café Loustic, another cafe serious about well, coffee. Aiming to be one of the best espresso bars in the world, Café Loustic has high ambitions! After visiting this cute and retro joint, you realize they just might be on their way!
I recommend Café Loustic to anyone in need of a serious caffeine fix and a cute place to take a little break.
Le Valentin
30 Passage Jouffroy, 75009
If you’re more of a tea person, I highly recommend heading over to Le Valentin for a cozy hangout in Paris. Not only is the café itself stunning, they have a huge selection of artisanal teas as well as their own bakery which produces some of the best pastries in Paris! I mean, the photo speaks for itself doesn’t it?
Shakespeare & Company
37 Rue de la Bûcherie, 75005
I mean, we can’t really talk about cozy cafes in Paris without mentioning the café at Shakespeare and Co, right? For those of you unfamiliar, this little bookshop was opened by Sylvia Beach in 1919, a creation of a safe harbor for lots of American writers and artists living in Paris in the early 1920’s. Still exceptionally popular today, the bookshop is home to its own cozy café!
Although the tourist location is packed full in the summer, you might just get lucky and find yourself an ideal spot to read and drink coffee in the winter!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my list of cozy cafes in Paris! Although the winter months in Paris can feel endless, there are many beautiful and warm places to spend these darker days.
