Where to Drink Champagne in Paris
I only drink Champagne on two occasions, when I am in love and when I am not. ―
Paris is the city of celebrating life.
Whether you are a long-term resident, or merely passing through, there is always a good reason to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the city around us. What better way to do that than with a flute of sparkly champagne in one’s hand? Parisians, and French people in general, don’t need a reason to open a bottle of champagne other than the fact that life itself should be a celebration.
Why wait until an anniversary or a holiday or a job promotion to share a great bottle of brut with the people you love? Life is about experiencing the moment, not waiting for occasions.
In Paris, the art of drinking champagne is quite simple: do it with the ones you love, in a beautiful setting. This can be along the river, in one’s own terrace, or even in the incredible roof-top bars sprinkled across the city. Let this article serve as a guide to help you find the right spot for your non-celebratory celebration.
Let’s start on the dazzling rooftops and work our way down.
The Rooftops
Le Perchoir
14 Rue Crespin du Gast, 75011
One of the more well-known rooftops in Paris, Le Perchoir is an excellent place to drink champagne in Paris. Located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, Le Perchoir is perhaps of the least touristic roof-top views you can find in the city of lights. Tucked away in a rather calm and hidden street, you’d never know the Perchoir was there–unless, of course, you happen to hear the music and clinking of glasses from above.
Another wonderful aspect of Le Perchoir, is that it is less on the expensive side compared to other rooftop bars. With views of the Sacré Coeur in the background, Le Perchoir is the perfect place to toast a glass of champagne with a loved one.
Le Galerie Lafayette Rooftop
35 Boulevard Haussmann, 75009
Did you know you can access the rooftop from the Galerie Lafayette for free? One of my favorite views in Paris, Le Galerie Lafayette also is home to their own rooftop bar, the Ice Cube Bar.
With panoramic views of the Eiffel Tower, L’Opéra and the Sacré Coeur, you’ll have all the reason in the world to celebrate with a bubbly glass of champagne.
Le 43-Roof Top
4 Rue Danton, 75006
Of the more posh options we have for drinking champagne in Paris, Le 43-Roof Top is an excellent choice for a date-night accompanied by a glass of champagne. Not only do they serve champagne, they are also known for their delicious and inventive cocktails that will set you back 15 euros, a bit on the pricey side for Paris.
So if you’re looking for somewhere a bit more elevated, (no pun intended) perhaps Le 43 is the crowd for you.
Le Rooftop Peninsula Paris
19 Avenue Kléber, 75116
Le Rooftop is one of those places where it’s all in the name. Located in the 9th arrondissement, Le Rooftop hosts stunning views of the Eiffel Tower and surrounding Paris.
With luscious greenery and cozy seating, Le Rooftop is the perfect stop for a daytime glass of champagne. Hey, just because the suns’ out, doesn’t mean we can’t indulge…
Let’s get cozy
Le Syndicat
51 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, 75010
If you’re looking for a cozier ambiance to drink some champagne in Paris, there’s no better place than Le Syndicat. Only serving the finest of French alcohol, you can be sure their champagne selection is perfectly chosen.
With an excellent vibe and ever better music, Le Syndicat is the best spot for toasting champagne and starting a night out on the town.
Moonshiner
5 Rue Sedaine, 75011
What cooler place to drink champagne other than an actual speakeasy bar? The Moonshiner in the 11th arrondissement is a whimsical and lively venue for any champagne-lover in Paris. Often considered an American tradition, Paris is in fact home to a few speakeasy bars.
To find this mysterious bar, you must first enter through none other than pizza shop Pizza da Vito, and then you may enter Moonshiner through a metal door in the walk-in closet of the pizza joint.
Once you’re downstairs, the atmosphere changes completely and then it’s time to party!
Le Dokhan’s Bar
117 Rue Lauriston, 75116
For a more elegant champagne-drinking setting, why not head over to Le Dokhan’s Bar. Much like the 16th arrondissement that it is home to, Le Dokhan’s has style, grace, and a beautiful ambiance. In Dokhan’s, it’s almost as you’ve been transported in time, keeping in tune with much of the charm most of us consider to be “the real Paris.”
Le Dohkan’s itself is a champagne bar, so of course you have more choices at your fingertips than other bistros and bars. In fact, Le Dokhan’s is home to the cities largest collection of champagnes, totaling over 240 different choices. Santé!
Champagne by the water
Flow
4 Port des Invalides, 75007
For most of us, champagne is meant to be cherished outside, and somewhere beautiful. Flow, a stunning boat bar located on the iconic Seine river, is perhaps one of the most stunning places to drink champagne in Paris.
With views of Pont Alexandre III, Flow is the perfect spot to toast over champagne and relish in the magic of Paris. Not only are they a boat bar, but they also are their own concert venue, with an array of musicians performing in the summer.
Does it get more iconic than that?
Batofar
11 Quai François Mauriac, 75013
Another famous boat bar in Paris, the Batofar is located far from the tourist crowds. With a heated terrace, you can enjoy champagne on the deck of Batofar further into the fall season than other venues.
If you’re looking for a calmer ambiance, I suggest heading to Batofar in the early or late afternoon, as they are known for their lively night crowd and techno music.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this list of where to drink champagne in Paris. To celebrate Paris is to celebrate life. Santé!
