Well, it’s fair to say that one can easily find fresh, locally crafted beers at most of the bars and restaurants in the city. Virginia Beach offers you dozens of breweries, with unique processing methods, and experiences for you to choose from. Some come with live music, tasty bites to munch on as you sip your drink, game rooms, and trivia nights to spice up the visit. Ready for some craft beer sampling and fun? Here are the 10 best breweries in the city.

Pleasure House Brewing

Located in the Hampton Roads area, this brewery is a local’s favorite for two main reasons; top-notch, fresh beer, and amazing customer service. The goal is to make flavorful and quality beer while serving the local community. It produces small batches of ales, which are curated into creative styles and flavors. It serves 4 to 5 types of beer, including IPA, Belgian, Malty, Seasonal taps, and Hoppy. The twisted flavors for each are then rotated regularly to offer a new, interesting experience to clients every time they visit. You can pick some cans of select beers as well on the go, but be sure to sit at their bar area and sip some of the craft beer on the spot. The establishment features a fully stocked game room, with shuffleboards and darts, an outdoor patio, trivia Wednesdays, and there’s always a food truck ready to serve your cravings. The atmosphere is rather laid back, making it a great joint to unwind as you savor locally crafted beer with friends.

Years on, it has grown into a local go-to for a vast selection of craft beer, a relaxed atmosphere to unwind, and tasty oven-baked pizzas. They offer a taproom, beer garden, and tasting room. Reaver Beach Brewing Co.

This is the first brewery in Virginia Beach to put up the coolship process for making sour beers. The cool ship is a kind of pan that cools down the wort used in the brewing, allowing contact of the brew with open air. The beer is then packed into barrels and allowed to ferment. The taste created is as unique as it can get. The team behind the crafting process at Reaver Beach is passionate about every step of it, oh, and they love craft beer.

Winston Percefull, the head brewer has vast experience in brewing original beers, having held senior brewing positions in Ashland, Virginia. He is also a graduate of the American Brewers Guild Brewing Science & Engineering Program and a member of the Master Brewers Association of America.

Craft beers at Reaver Beach are thus professionally made, and it is no surprise that they are award-winning. The spot is home to unique wild sour beers and the popular Hoptopus Double IPA. It also hosts trivia nights every 3rd Thursday of the month and Bingo & Beers every 2nd Sunday of the month.

Young Veteran’s Brewery

This is a military veteran-owned brewery in the Hampton Roads area, handcrafting tasty ales, lagers, and everything that’s local beer in Virginia Beach. The crew is particular about quality ingredients, including the barley, yeast, hop, and water used in the brewing process. The tasting room is family-friendly, laid back, and welcoming to all who come knocking. The branding is one of the most fascinating around, and coming from military veterans who love to take it easy and have fun, it is no big surprise. If you’re a sucker for spooky creations, the canned beer designs will make your day here. The ‘death by powerpoint’ black lager can, for example, feature the reaper with a sickle, draped in black. That’s only a teaser of what’s in store and do I need to say more? The beer selection is wide, and the beers are tasty, reasonably priced, and served by knowledgeable, friendly staff.
