Where to Eat the Best Hotdogs in Milwaukee


 

The word Milwaukee is not very common in the United States of America. However, this is the largest city in the United States of America state of Wisconsin on  Lake Michigan’s western shore.

It’s known for its breweries, many of which offer tours chronicling its role in the beer industry. Overlooking the Menomonee River, the Harley-Davidson Museum displays classic motorcycles, including one of Elvis Presley’s.

Nearby is the Milwaukee Public Museum, with its large-scale European Village and a recreation of old Milwaukee.

Milwaukee is actually not much of a hot dog town, as its German heritage assures that wurst will always come first via The Spruce Eats.

While brats reign supreme, sausages of any stripe sell well. According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers, is the only major league stadium where sausages outsell hot dogs.

That isn’t to say that the city has no love for the tube steak. Hot Dog is represented among the team’s famous Racing Sausages, after all, taking his place in the winner’s circle just as often as his brother’s Italian, Polish, Brat, and Chorizo.

If you’re looking for a real, authentic, Milwaukee-style hot dog, however, there really isn’t any such thing, what is important is to get familiar with the long and delicious hotdogs and always make a stop if you are passing by or if you are visiting the city.

This not-so-historic hot dog in this city may not even involve a said dog, as you can order it with any of the numerous sausages they carry, but it again involves topping the meat with cheese – cheddar.

 The hotdogs in this city were famous. Locals eat the hotdog and love to have a drink with it, more specifically champagne or beers making it a unique bit.

1. Martino’s Italian Beef

The best hot dogs & Italian beef! However, they offer other meals like desserts, shakes, and malts. Whatever meal one picks from the menu will give a good outcome that is delicious.

Hotdogs are better done here than anywhere else in town. From the sausage races to Bob Uecker to tailgating, to Bernie Brewer’s Dugout, Miller Park has it all! For the people that love a beer, this place offers a cool drink, best with a hot dog.

3. The Dogg Haus

They serve awesome Vienna Beef hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches. The majority of locals visit to have a quick snack at lunch hour or pick up a takeaway on their way past the city. Hardly any pork on the menu at all actually but their hot dogs are delicious.

4. Black Sheep MKE

Situated in one of the most culturally centered cities, Black Sheep MKE is among the top hotdogs restaurant in the city of Milwaukee.

The services are good and they serve their meals on small plates only. Decent beer selection and swallows well with a hotdog. Nice space, friendly, not too hipster

5. Leon’s Frozen Custard

Spanish hamburgers are greasy goodness and the custard shakes and malts are awesome! What is best are the hotdogs with a cool drink to sink the delicious taste and Milwaukee being a city known for beer brewing, locals love to have a hotdog and a beer after.  

6. Real Chili

People get a variety of food selections in this outlet. They have very tasty hotdogs, sandwiches, and salads you can top them off with their chili.

7. Klement Sausage Outlet Store

The amazing thing about this place is that they offer very long hotdogs. One can do it for a lunchtime meal or just for a bit.

The most important thing to note is that Milwaukee is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse cities in the United States of America.

Unfortunately, it continues to be one of the most racially segregated, despite their famous hotdogs, visitors are rare but locals love the hotdogs.

8. The Drive-Thru

Get the Chicago-style hotdogs; they serve the most delicious mini-donuts you’ve ever had for free with every purchase. What is outstanding is the kind of Chicago hotdogs.

9. Real Chili

This is where one can get the best chili cheese dogs, that is if one loves something chili. In this restaurant, the meals are all chili but very delicious.  Of course, they have a variety of other meals but their chili cheese dogs are top in terms of yummy hotdogs around Milwaukee.

10. AJ Bombers

Life is supposed to be fun! With hotdogs, burgers, beer, booze, and bombs of peanuts, AJ Bombers is the most fun place to leave your stamp and enjoy some grub. A great place to hang out with family or friends.

If you think of cities that have a long and storied history involving the humble hot dog and a culinary tradition that elevates it to iconic street food, there are really only two that stand out: Chicago and New York.

If you’re a true connoisseur of hot dogs and regional cuisine, you might be conversant with such exotic variations as the Mexican/Arizonan Sonora dog or the Hawaiian puka dog.

Guy Fieri fans and residents of the nation’s smallest state) may also be familiar with hot wieners via Food Network, while Beltway insiders all know about the half-smokes at the legendary Ben’s Chili Bowl.

The Washington Post says you’re always guaranteed a meal on the house if your name is either Obama or Bill Cosby. Not sure if the latter can get delivery at his current residence, however.

Two Midwestern cities not named Chicago are less well known outside their immediate areas for their own tube steak traditions.

However, Detroit and Milwaukee. In the latter case, most of the city’s residents are also unaware of any such thing as hotdogs but the lovers of the snack love it and will always connect to restaurants offering them on their menu.
