The citadel mall is one of the oldest and largest malls in Charleston. It was first opened in 1981 and is at the intersection of Sam Rittenberg Boulevard and I 526.

This mall has more than 100 stores with four anchor stores like Belk, Dillard department store, JCPenney, Sear, Dick’s Sporting goods and Target supermarket.

The mall has been under different managements over time and was once featured in an episode of Food Networks Food court wars where a couple won a lease of a vacant food court space for a year.

Enjoy a meal from one of the food courts as you people-watch or go back and shop some more.

          Ashley Landing

Ashley Landing also known as Ashley Plaza Mall was the first indoor shopping mall in the West Ashley area of Charleston. This mall was built in 1972 along 1401 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard on highway 7.

It features a supermarket, luxurious brands such as Chanel, JCPenney, Kate Spade, Sephora among others. There are restaurants, food courts and ice cream parlours too.

The mall features beautiful façade of the stores that were recently renovated, well-done landscaping and brick crosswalks for pedestrians.

          Merchants Village

The other mall to visit when in Charleston is the Merchant Village located close to the highway and the interstate, making it convenient.

Most shoppers that come here love the deli, the pharmacy, bakery and fresh organic fruits and vegetables.  The store owners here are renown for their great customer service.

There are banking halls, laundry service store, car garage and wash restaurants and cafes. This mall has all that you need and tops it up with friendly people, making your experience pleasant.

          Freshfields Village

The Freshfields Village is located on Kiawah Island and is a great shopping destination. The parking area is spacious and marked.

          Tanger Outlets Centre

This mall has all that you need in one place. Whatever luxurious brand that you can think of, you will find it here. Be it local or international brands, you will find them all side by side.

There are great discounts in the stores and you are guaranteed value for money in the store like Nine West, Skechers, Coach, Ralph Lauren, Saks Off 5th, Nike, Michael Kors, Under Armour, Old Navy, Gap, Palmetto Moon, and Tommy Hilfiger. Be on the lookout for their sales and promotions.

You will also find fine dining restaurants and cafés or just walk into Starbucks for refreshing beverages.

          Mt Pleasant Mall

Mount Pleasant Towne Centre is located just a short drive away from Charleston and has plenty of parking space.

This is a large open-air shopping mall featuring beautiful greenery creating a tranquil ambience. You will find top brands like Victoria’s Secret, Barnes & Noble, Banana Republic, and Sunglass Hut.

Once done with shopping you can head to the restaurants at the food court for some delicious meal. The stores in this mall have frequent discounts and promotions so check their website to know which store to head to first.
