Miley Cyrus has been in the global news more times than artists of her age in the past two decades. She is a versatile singer, songwriter, actress, and rapper whose style changes over time to suit the audience.

Born in November 1992, the American-born and raised artist became famous when she was a teenager. Many people of her generation knew her as Hannah Montana. She has also released music albums and singles such as Wrecking Ball, Flowers, and The Climb among others. Her music invited a huge number of fans across the world who have been curious about her personal life.

However, the music icon has always been open about her life and ready to answer questions about her sexuality and gender identity.

When she was interviewed by The Paper Magazine in 2016, Miley Cyrus was open about her sexuality. She came out as pansexual and had the time to explain to her fans what she meant. Despite being twenty-two years, the Flowers singer had a full understanding of her sexuality. “I’m very open about it — I’m pansexual. But I’m not in a relationship. I’m 22, I’m going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I’m with,” she explained in the interview.

According to sexuality expert Debby Herbenick, pansexuality involves people who are open to love and be sexually attracted to any person regardless of their gender. Miley Cyrus says that her attraction to people does not have anything to do with gender. She also adds that the person she loves does not have to identify with a specific gender.

“I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age,” she said. “Everything that is legal, I’m down with. Yo, I’m down with any adult — anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me. I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl,” she explained openly.

Many people confuse pansexuality with bisexuality. However, they are different because bisexuality means that there are two genders involved. Pansexuality means that one is open to loving and being sexually attracted to male, female, bi, queer, gay, lesbian, and any other sexual orientation that the person identifies with.

Miley Cyrus says that she chooses to be pansexual because she does not fit in any box and wants to be free to explore the wider spectrum of sexuality.

In a separate interview with the Power of Women L.A. Issue, Miley Cyrus was asked how she concluded that she was pansexual. “Even though I may seem very different, people may not see me as neutral as I feel. But I feel very neutral,” she explained.

Miley Cyrus found out about her sexuality when she became a member of the LGBTQ+ community in America. Even though she hung around the members of the community, she did not feel gay and was not straight either. She came to terms that she was gender neutral and was free to love and get sexually attracted to any adult.

As a pansexual, she is attracted to people of all gender identities and also feels that she does not fit into one gender. She is gender-neutral.
