New York is every artists haven, and pottery doesn’t fall by the wayside by any means. Here are the 10 best pottery classes in NYC, all tried and tested either by myself or my nearest and dearest. 

1. Chambers Pottery in New York

A heavenly and unexpected getaway for pottery lovers of all ages — this one is lesser known on the scene, but it is run by fantastic teachers who really seem to give a damn about how their students are progressing. If you’re only in town for a short period of time and looking for a in-and-out type of set up, they will be happy to accommodate you, too!

2. La Mano Pottery in New York

Le Mano is a pottery class for adults and children in NYC, and it’s a fantastic hub for creatives who just need that outlet. They have a knack for taking beginners and turning them into masters in relatively short periods of time.

Speaking of beginners, if you’re near Morningside Heights then Mugi is the studio for you! This is actually a professional gallery, where works are showcased by artists from around the country. The studio facilitates beginners classes as well, in a container that is dripping with tangible creative energy.

For a more one-of-a-kind experience packed with local talent, head to Earthworks in the heart of Yorkville. This is a fantastic studio for the more advanced student who is looking to take their craft to the next level — or come as a beginner, all are welcome!

A studio proudly placed on Bedford Ave, Brooklyn that is entirely community focused. Their goal is to make the art of pottery-making accessible to everyone, so their classes are super affordable and generous in terms of supplies.

I love the painted pot; there is always something exciting happening and enjoyment to be had, be it the backend of a children’s pottery party or a very cute Tinder date situation.

9. Yonkers Pottery Studio in New York

An off-the-beaten-track option hosted by teacher Cori, the Yonkers Pottery Studio is a wonderful and affordable introduction to pottery, for students of all ages. Of course, the location is only convenient if you’re already far north, but for those who can make it out here I would absolutely recommend this pottery school!

I love this studio, and would absolutely recommend it if it’s camaraderie and community that you’re after. The teacher is always incredibly patient, which is a big pro if you’re a newbie like myself.
