Unveiling Adele’s Rise to Fame
I came to first know of Adele when I heard the song, ‘Someone Like You.’ After that, I got hooked on her voice, style of writing, and the emotions she puts behind each and every one of the words she utters. I of course went through a rabbit hole checking out every song she has done and boy! it isn’t a surprise this phenomenal woman is so famous and appreciated. In this article, we’ll be unveiling her rise to Fame and the journey it has taken for her to reach there.
1. Her booming voice has made her into a soulful singer

The world has come to know Adele Adkins as a soulful singer with a booming voice and a classic diva aura that you cannot fail to notice. She is one lady who plays out monster ballads and fist-pumping pop tunes. Despite her willingness to discuss an array of subjects that relate to her personal life, the “When We Were Young” singer seems to slink behind a wall when it comes to sharing information about her humble beginnings in Britain.
2. She was once an unknown singer

Adele has been such a megastar in the music industry for so many years that it is often difficult to remember that she was once an unknown singer, uploading her music to the internet and struggling to get traffic for her music. When she became a sleeper hit on one of the most popular variety shows in the world, that’s when the world was like, “Wait a minute. Who is she?” She went on to rack up so many accolades and snatched her superstar status. It wasn’t of course a smooth ride, but for her to be where she is today, is well deserved.
3. Stage fright almost ruined her career

Adele is an icon but don’t let that fool you. Don’t be fooled by the fact that a singer with such a powerhouse voice and a story to tell, never has moments of doubt and just needs to take a few deep breaths. Adele for example doesn’t have a hard time bearing her soul to her fans through her intimate and deep lyrics. However, performing live is a whole different issue and as she admitted, she has always been affected by stage fright.
4. At one point Adele wanted to bow out after the release of one album

Just imagine Adele as a one-hit wonder. So many questions would have been asked if she had just decided to turn over the mic after releasing her mega-selling record, 21. I mean, where would the music industry be? Where would we be getting those killer soundtracks that help us nurse heartbreaks? After the release of this album, Adele briefly considered never being in the public eye again. Glad she changed her mind.
5. Adele doesn’t like being involved in commercials

Many artists nowadays climb to the top by taking sponsorship deals and being the face of various brands. These iconic commercials usually present lucrative terms to them and that’s why most of them cannot say no. However, for Adele is a different story because she has always believed that advertisements were not going to skyrocket her to fame. She believes that any linking to sponsorship deals will water her down from her true and intended purpose of singing.
6. Her songs always have a personal touch

What has always made Adele stand out is how her songs are always recorded from a personal place. They say home is where the heart is and Adele has never taken this sentiment for granted. Her home provided the blueprint for what would be ranked as the words and music that made her famous. She drew inspiration for her signature power ballads from a simple location which was her childhood name. During that time, she spent time recording in an upstairs apartment that she shared with her mother.
7. The ’21’ Album left Adele plagued with so many insecurities

Whenever you listen to Adele’s songs, You cannot help but feel the sting of tears in your eyes while gazing out a window feeling transfixed. Her lyrics are that relatable! The 21 album is no different. When you listen to it, you hear nothing short of perfection. However, Adele confessed that while going through this record, she felt a very different set of emotions which sounds crazy. Everyone second-guesses themselves and even the most seasoned and iconic artist isn’t an exception. Adele felt that the success of this album made life ‘smaller,’ something she didn’t want to be stuck on forever.
8. An iconic legend heard her first

A member of ‘The Who,’ a legendary British rock band, Pete Townsend, may have sung about his generation constantly, but he unknowingly had future generations in mind when he had a chance encounter with Adele before she was even famous. Townsend filmed an episode of his series, ‘In The Attic,’ which featured early performances by Adele. According to BBC, she was not starstruck at all which was something that was a bit of a fresh air. She just wasn’t that mesmerized.
9. Her manager has always been there for her

It is very rare for a celebrity to stay with members of the same crew that surrounded her before she was even famous. Of course, the number of people in your squad may dwindle but there is always a constant regardless. In the case of Adele, that constant presence is her manager, Jonathan Dickins. His presence according to Adele has always been comforting especially from a business point of view. According to Teen Vogue, his presence has kept her from experiencing fame ‘loneliness.’
10. Landing a spot in SNL skyrocketed her fame

When it came to Adele landing a spot as the musical guest on one of the most legendary TV shows in history, Saturday Night Live (SNL), her popularity soared even higher. At the time, she was still on her journey to fame and making modest waves. Then she appeared on SNL and performed ‘Chasing Pavemnets,’ on the show in 2008. Fans and people in general couldn’t get enough of her and that one episode made her even more popular and likeable.
Adele is indeed an iconic singer who is admired by many. She never disappoints with her songs given how much they are relatable.
