Top 5 Vintage Stores in Montmartre

Perched atop a hill in northern Paris, Montmartre is known for its many monuments and exuding a leftover feeling of Bohemian Paris. Tourists flock to the hill for sightseeing, but most overlook the neighborhood’s great shopping options. Besides playing host to marvels like the Sacré-Coeur, Montmartre is also home to some of the city’s best antique and vintage stores.

And quite fittingly, the area is becoming well-known for its excellent sense of fashion. Artsy Montmartois are experts at mixing old and new styles, and what better place to find some one-of-a-kind treasures than in the local friperie or vintage shop?  I’ve put together a list of the top 5 vintage stores in Montmartre to help guide you. These places are where the locals come to treasure hunt. And whatever your style, I think you’ll agree that there’s a little something for everyone.

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s discover the top 5 vintage stores in Montmartre!

1. TEMPOLINO

Situated at the bottom of the butte Montmartre, just meters from metro Anvers is TEMPOLINO. This family-owned vintage store has been a Parisian favorite since it opened in 2001. Focus here is on pieces and antiques from the 60s, 70s, and 80s but you can occasionally find older treasures as well. The range is a mix of high-end vintage designer and classic brocante. And in addition to clothing and accessories, there’s furniture, decor, and even antique tableware to browse.

The boutique is curated by Madame Michèle and her husband, and you can just tell they are so passionate about what they do. Michèle sources the majority of the pieces for sale, and her husband loves to repair antiques and give them new life. Talk about a perfect match! Plus, service is friendly and they really know their stuff; making it a no-brainer to add this place to my list of the top 5 vintage stores in Montmartre.

open monday through saturday 2PM-7:30PM

2. Chinémachine

Tucked away on one of Montmartre’s most picturesque streets (you can catch a view of the Sacré-Coeur at the end – perfectly framed by Parisian architecture) is Chinémachine – decidedly one of the area’s coolest vintage shops. Chinémachine specializes in vintage garments and accessories, for both men and women. Though the women’s collection is far more expansive.

There’s not a specific focus here, but clothes tend to be more period-pieces than everyday vintage. Think 80’s puffer sleeves and psychedelic 60’s prints interspersed with more neutral pieces. New arrivals show up as they come in, so it’s always worth stopping by if you’re in the area.

open: daily 12PM-8PM

3. Iglaïne Vintage

Located on the northern side of the butte Montmartre near Château Rouge, Iglaïne Vintage provides self-described 20th century women’s couture in the heart of Montmartre. This vintage shop is very carefully curated, and pieces range from well-known fashion houses and designer labels to smaller brands just waiting to be (re)discovered. There doesn’t seem to be a particular focus on a certain decade, but rather on the quality and wear-ability of the garments.

Accessories, shoes, and apparel are all on offer at Iglaïne; and you can find some real treasures here. Whether you’re on the hunt for From funky Miss Dior 70s shades or a classic Missoni blouse to a luxe YSL evening gown, you can find it here. Their offerings change regularly, and they do a pretty good job of updating listings on their website, too.

4. By Flowers

Duck into this little boutique near Abbesses, and you’ll be overwhelmed (hopefully in a good way) by the mishmash selection of clothing and accessories. Racks are literally stuffed full, and the bins lining the shop are running over at the brim here. By Flowers is the type of vintage shop where you need to go through everything yourself. And you’ll definitely need to use a little imagination.

There’s no shortage of great bargain pieces at By Flowers, hailing from all decades and styles. On the hunt for some classic Hawaiian shirts? Vintage leather bags? Costume-y 80s prints? I can assure you, with a little patience you can find all this and more.

You’ll have to do a little digging to find the treasures though! The prices are very affordable compared to some of the other vintage shops in Montmartre.  So take your time, and bring a good friend (or date) along! It’s a fun place to treasure hunt together.

While the shop is small in size, the quality of the selection makes up for the cozy atmosphere. All of the articles for sale are hand-picked by the owner, and most are in near-perfect condition. Designer labels and no-name brands alike fall into the eclectic mix of vintage clothes and accessories. There are all kinds of treasures to be found here!

Whether you’re looking for something classic or a more outspoken piece, you can find it here. Plus, it’s hard to beat the central location! No matter your budget, Recreatroc is a great option for shopping vintage womenswear in Montmartre.
