Things to do near the Opera House
The Opera Garnier is one of the best examples of Parisian architecture. It’s a place of luxury, entertainment and Art that was meant to represent the wealth of Paris during the nineteenth century. But not only is the Opera House a symbol of luxury; the entire area is the place of richness. I am going to tell you all the things to do near the Opera House.
A little bit of shopping? Go to the Galeries Lafayette!
One of the best things to do near the Opera House is to go shopping! The Galeries Lafayette is the biggest store of Paris. Everything you can imagine is gathered in one place: the Galeries Lafayette! If you’re looking for souvenirs, fancy clothes or housing decoration, the Galeries Lafayette is the store you need.
It’s located on the Haussmann Boulevard: the street of famous brands, haute-couture shops and luxury. The Galeries Lafayette will be the best shopping you’ll ever have!
Visit the Museum of Perfume
All the things to do near the Opera House are linked to luxury of course. This area was the place where Coco Chanel worked for instance! Also the perfume was born in this quarter. This is why the Museum of Perfume is located near the Opera House. Located in Scribe Street, this museum was created by Fragonard (a famous perfume brand).
The free guided tour takes about twenty minutes. It shows you how the art of making perfume has been done for centuries, how technology adds to the process, while the “nose” is still the most important part. During the tour you’ll even get a chance to test your “nose” by identifying six to eight common perfume notes!
A short walk into the Tuileries Garden
Cross the Rivoli Street and you’ll enter into the Tuileries Garden. It was the garden of French Kings! You’ll enjoy the pleasant atmosphere: you can lie down and relax on a green chair and appreciate this beautiful French garden. No grass here, only sand! It’s a typical Parisian thing to do near the Opera house!
Finish with the best French sandwich
Finally, what is better than eating a sandwich near the Opera house? Located in Capucines Street, just next to Place Vendôme, this little restaurant called “Le Petit Vendôme” is one of the best addresses of Paris! You can ask for a sandwich, it’s only 6€ and it’s made with jam and cheese that come from South of France! The bread is made by “Julien“, the best bakery of Paris. It’s a delight! Eating a good sandwich will ever be the best thing to do near the Opera house!
