Things to do in Barcelona in November

In November, winter is willing to come to the city so here’re some ideas to prepare you for the cold season in town. Those are the best things to do in Barcelona in November from the point of view of a local who, by the way, loves winter!

Stay warm visiting a museum

barca_nov

Like everywhere else, in Barcelona sometimes rains, not very often, but still sometimes. If while you’re in town you find yourselves under a heavy storm, one of the best things to do in November in Barcelona is to get lost in one of the biggest museums we have in the city: the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, which is the National Museum of Art of Catalunya in English.

The collection is held in a magnificent palace where you’ll be able to visit pieces of art from different periods, from the Romanic until these days. Some of the most important catalan artists are represented there, and this makes this museum a total must in Barcelona.

Have some churros dipped in hot chocolate

November

It’s getting cold in town and it is time to start the churros season! In fact, you can eat churros all year long but what I like is to dip them in hot chocolate (“xocolata desfeta“, in catalan). So, another of the best things to do in November in Barcelona is to go and enjoy a good “merienda“, which is a snack at 5 pm before diner!

Here are two of my favorites places. They are both on the same street one in the beginning and the second one in the end of it. The street is called Petritxol and is really small. It’s is a lovely street in the city center full of coffee houses and art galleries!

The first place I’d recommend you to go to is called Dulcinea. It’s a two-floor bar all made out of wood that is very beautiful and really old as well. The other one is also really famous, it’s called Granja Pallarès, and it’s not as warm as the other one but they have excellent chocolate and xurros too.

Enjoy art

November

One of my favorite art places in Barcelona is the little gallery known as N2. It is located on street Enric GranadosCarrer d’Enric Granados, 61 – which is a lovely street close to the city center with a lot of bars and terraces.

Every month they have a new exhibition and normally the artists are young people who work with modern techniques that will surprise you. So another good thing to do in November in Barcelona is to go and visit them!

Go shopping to avoid the cold

If it rains, it is also a good moment to go shopping. My favorite mall in Barcelona is Gran Via 2. I love it because it’s not very far from the city center by bus or metro and it’s never crowded.

It has three floors and all the big Spanish brands are there, so you’ll find everything you want. Moreover there are plenty of restaurants in the terrace and indoors as well for you to have a break and eat something.

Have traditional catalan dishes

One of the best ways to get cozy and warm during the month of November while in Barcelona is to enjoy some of the best catalan dishes! Read this article to find out more about the delicious dishes you will be able to try while in the city. Then you will find the recommendations of a local in this article!

Visit the Mercat Masadas

The Mercat Masadas is a market very different from what we are used to in any city in the world. It is not a crafts fair or an antique market. The Mercat Masadas is an exchange martket where you will be able to find items of collection, such as model trains, model cars, model planes, model boats, little soldiers, railway sings, among other things!

This market takes place on Assemblea de Catalunya Square, in Sant Andreu neighborhood. It happens every first sunday of each month between 10 am and 2 pm.

As you can see, there are so many things to do in Barcelona in November, but there are still plenty more for you to discover while in the city! I hope you’ve enjoyed my article and that it has inspired you! A walk in Barcelona is truly inspiring and if you feel like exploring it with a local who deeply loves his city and knows it by heart, I recommend you to join one of our walking tours! They are fun and enriching, because you will get to learn much more than you would if you were on your own. If you need further information about anything, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. I hope to see you soon in Barcelona!
