The Best Chinese Restaurants in Paris

Did you know that Paris has its own Chinatown in the 13th arrondissement? Asian culture is alive and well in the French Capital, and Paris is home to excellent and affordable restaurants and canteens, that are no longer confined to the 13th but have flourished all over Paris.

I have selected my top 8 Chinese restaurants in Paris. Are you looking for the best Chinese restaurants in Paris? Keep Reading!

As a Chinese cuisine lover, I know it can be quite hard to find a good restaurant that is affordable but uses excellent quality ingredients. The addresses I have selected are delicious yet cheap, and whether you are a fan of traditional Chinese cuisine or you rather prefer modern Chinese fusion, there will certainly be something for you!

Also, Chinese cuisine is extremely diversified, so the restaurants I have selected give you a precise overview of its wonders, from Beijing to Szechwan and Shanghai.

1. Noodle Bar

The first restaurant I have selected kicks off the list with an all-time favorite: Chinese noodles. At the Noodle Bar, nothing fancy: it is a family bar serving noodles only. You have a choice between soup noodles and sautéed noodles, and you get to choose between a variety of hearty flavors of meat and toppings.

Noodle Bar is the best place to have a quick and comforting hot meal; or to bring your reluctant friends to a typical yet really accessible Chinese restaurant.

Bonus Point: it is also one of the most affordable restaurants of this list (dishes starting at 5€!). However, be aware that the decoration of the place is average – you go to Noodle Bar for the dishes, not the atmosphere!

2. Miam Miam Cool

Miam Miam Cool serves excellent and typical Szechwan cuisine – on of the spiciest types of regional Chinese cuisines. If you are willing to explore fresh and hearty meals with a good dose of spice, Miam Miam Cool is the perfect place.

What I love more about it is that there is few items on the menu, and everything is absolutely fresh – their noodles are even homemade, and to die for. Count between 10 and 15 euros for a really satisfying meal.

3. Muqam

If you are a connoisseur of Chinese cultures, you may know that the North-West of China is home to an important minority of Turkish speaking Chinese people. At the crossroads of Turkish and Chinese culture, their cuisine is well known for its delicious and tender meat skewers.

Muqam is well known in Paris from the Chinese community for being one of the only addresses specializing in this particular and surprising cuisine. If you decide to visit this unique place, I recommend tasting their delicious kawap (tender meat skewers).

4. Les Jardins de Mandchourie

If I had to pick my all-time favorite Chinese restaurant of Paris, I think Les Jardins de Mandchourie would be my first choice. What can I say about this place, really, other than everything they serve is refined, elegant and mouthwatering.

It is not rare that the chef himself passes through the tables to present you the raw ingredients that he will be cooking for you later; the dishes served are really original and are nothing like any other Chinese address you will get to taste in Paris. Prices range between 12 and 20€. A must-visit!

5. Boutique Yam’ Tcha

Boutique Yam Tcha is somewhat of a gem if you happen to pass by the busy 1st arrondissement. Nestled in an elegant tea boutique, Yam Tcha boutique serves signature dishes of Michelin star-decorated chef Adeline Grattard.

The place is refined, tiny and cozy, and perfect for an afternoon tea-time or a late lunch. Their teas are all incredible quality – do not hesitate to ask the staff for a tea that compliments your mood, taste or what you are eating, they are skilled to advise you really well.

Their specialty is their famous fusion baos (stuffed soft homemade buns that melt in your mouth). I recommend the most famous one (stuffed with amarena cherries and English cheese) but try as much as you can, their combinations are incredibly flavorful and refined.

6. Shang Palace

Shang Palace is the priciest restaurant in this list (with menus starting above 50€ for lunch). However, I had to mention it, because the palace is the only Michelin star-decorated restaurant of Paris. The quality of the food served there has nothing to do with anything else you can taste in Paris.

Each dish is a creation of its own, revisiting traditional Chinese dishes with a perfect balance of flavors.

Their well-known specialty is their Pekin Duck and a lot of their dishes is inspired by traditional Chinese cuisine, with a touch of refinement and elegance. This is the place if you are looking for a delicious and fancy Chinese address for a date or a special night out.
