This building has a very beautiful interior and magnificent gardens; incorporating Renaissance architecture, Mudéjar, Gothic, designs as well as beautiful paintings. Pedro Enríquez de Quiñones IV Andalucia’s Second Governor and Catalina di Rivera who was his second wife built the house, also known as Pilate’s House, in the 16th Century. He visited Jerusalem and came back with the idea to build the house in this design. Fadrique Enríquez de Rivera also known as Don Fadrique completed the house. The house is said to somehow be a depiction of Pontius Pilate’s residence.

One thing I love about Europe is the churches. So much thought and attention went into constructing these houses of God; regardless of when they were built, and every one of them is beautiful in its way. In Seville, the Seville Cathedral has a story behind it. It is said that when they began building it, the builders said that they should build it in such a way that those who saw it, in the end, would think the builders were mad! The cathedral is indeed unique, especially it being the third largest cathedral in the world, built in the gothic design, and the site where it is built used to be occupied by a mosque! And the bell used now, used to be used to call Muslims to prayer. There are 80 chapels inside, and the Giralda is accessible, so you can view the city from there. Christopher Colombus’ remains are found in this cathedral. Yes, the guy who discovered America, and no, he is not buried here, as four figures are holding his coffin off the floor. The cathedral is massive and we cannot fully cover it until you see it. And you should! Book a ticket, and enjoy it. And if you want to skip the line, book a combined ticket at El Salvador and skip the line here!

10. The Alcázar of Seville

The Alcázar was built by the Moorish rulers who occupied the region from around the 8th Century. This is one of the oldest palaces around. The architectural design incorporates the Mudéjar to Gothic and Renaissance styles and it allows you to get lost in history and culture. In 1987, the palace was declared a World Heritage Site and rightfully so, because the lovely tile altar, the patios, the intricate decoration, stucco palace, Hall of Justice, collection of column capitals and the culture attached to it gives it so much prominence. Book a ticket to enjoy this magnificent and age-old palace that is a tourist’s favorite in Seville.
