Las Palmas has some of the most amazing beaches, anywhere! You cannot visit the place without enjoying the sun and sand. There are five popular beaches to choose from- Playa del Colfital, Playa de la Puntilla, Playa de la Alcaravaneras, Playa de la Laja, and Playa de las Canteras Beach. Among these are public urban beaches as well as secluded ones, all these allow you to swim, sunbathe, play some beach games and even enjoy a picnic!

2. Poema Del Mar

Welcome to one of the most beautiful aquariums in Europe. the very modern Poema del Mar has more than 400 species of marine life and 15, 000 plants. Get ready to enjoy, not just the fishes, but other aquatic things divided into three main sections- the Deep Ocean, Beach and Reefs, and the Jungle, in the aquarium which covers an area of over 12,500 square meters and hold 7.5 Million liters of water. Enjoy sharks, turtles, and fish.

The cool thing about this aquarium is that it rescues, and rehabilitates marine life, is very much invested in research, and also recycles water and uses renewable energy! 

3. Mercado de Vegueta

One has to visit the Vegueta Market. This is a food market in the heart of Las Palmas, and here, you will find very fresh food, of different types, it will shock you! One can get stalls of fresh fruits and vegetables, cheese and egg, herbs, spices, different kinds of meats, and even grains, all from the Canary Islands and different parts of Spain. If you want to learn more about the foods of Las Palmas and Spain as a whole, then Vegueta Market is just the place for you! 

4. Cathedral Santa Ana

The Santa Ana Cathedral is a beautiful church in las Palmas. It took about eight years to construct in the neo-Gothic Cathedral style. The Statue of the city’s patron saint, Saint Ana saint of difficult labor is in the cathedral, and many expectant women visit there every so often. The construction of the church was intricately done with beautiful moldings which gives it the real neo-Gothic feel. 

5. Dog Statues

There are bronze statues of dogs in las Palmas. They are very hard to miss once you are in the city since they stand pretty at the Plaza de Santa Ana and they are also in the main squat ear the Old Town part of the city, as well as and opposite the Santa Ana Cathedral. The dog sculptures represent the European breeds and were sculpted by Adrian Jones. It is said they were there from the 19th century! It is said that the island got its name from the dogs but no one knows if that is true. There are a total of eight sculpted dogs in front of the cathedral and they are very beautiful, check them out.

The City Garden is a beautiful part of Las Palmas; a relaxed place in the middle of a vibrant coastal city! Well, it is not a garden or a park. If you need some serenity while here, you can skip the beach for a few hours to stroll in the area that was established by British residents who lived in the area in the 1800s. The architecture is very impressive; the embassies, houses and gardens, water features, statues, and plants. This is a very nice place to take a stroll in.

7. Las Palmas de Gran Canarias Urban Village

This is an amazing part of town where one can take a stroll, take pictures and just enjoy Las Palmas. Get to experience very beautiful architecture, cobbled streets, meet the people, and buy a few things- souvenirs at all. One should also check out the Pueblo Canario a very beautiful and enchanting village where one can listen to Traditional Canarian Music; which is accessible every Thursday and Sunday Just make sure to take very good photos.

Food is a very important aspect of culture. There is no better way to interact with the culture of a people than to eat their food. Las Palmas is a coastal town, with a rich Spanish culture. 9. Jardin Botanico Viera & Clavijo

Jardin Botanico Viera Clavijo is a beautiful botanical garden in Las Palmas. Erik Ragnar Svensson developed the garden with the hopes of having many species of plants as possible in one place. The construction of the botanical garden whose name means Botanical Garden of the Canaries was started in 1952 and opened in 1959. The massive garden, only seven kilometers from the city center, has over 500 species of plants housed in over 25 acres of land. There are cacti, pines, and many more plants than you can see in one trip! Better still, you can get a restaurant near the restaurant. 

10. Visit the Bandama Caldera

There is an extinct volcanic crater in Las Palmas called Bandama Caldera. On your way there, you will find a spectacular wine country, and ion top of the crater, the views are simply breathtaking! The five-thousand-year-old crates in less than 30 minutes’ drive away from the city, and should not be difficult to find. You can also sample some ash bitumen as you descend on the other side of the crates. If you want beautiful panoramic views, visit The Bandama Caldera.
