Top 10 Kosher Restaurants in Rome

Minority cuisines in Rome included halal food, North African food and dim sum. Surprisingly, kosher food doesn’t make the hard to find list, and Rome is actually abundant with places to enjoy it.

Almost all of them are situated in the hear of the city center, with a few exceptions of one or two up north. And to answer what you’re probably already thinking; yes, there are kosher authentic Italian restaurants in the mix!

Let’s take a look at ten of the best:

1. Yotvata in Rome

I’ll start with one of said authentic Italian spots. Yotvata is a pizza and pasta restaurant with a certified kosher menu throughout.

Kosher attraction aside, this menu and kitchen are a force to be reckoned with. Those who wandered in on a whim report to have never forgotten their meal here. Some of the best pizzas, pastas, Caprese salads and cod artichokes in the city, so they say.

Little Tripoli is kosher dining done plain and simple. The menu has your everyday Israeli light meals, fresh baked goods, interesting desserts, fruit plates and hot mint teas.

There’s even a shakshuka available as a dinner option, much to the delight of anyone in favor of all day breakfasts.

3. Baghetto Milky in Rome

This kosher eatery is near to the Colosseum. The menu is Arabic, Jewish and Italian fusion; and it works!

There are ample dish options to suit whatever dining mood you are in. Just be on the lookout for a pesky €2.50 charge on your bill for tap water; not cool!

Finally a spot where kosher eaters can enjoy espresso and pastries with the rest of Rome.

Flour Farina e Cucina is a quaint little Italian bakery; they have also added a light menu to the mix, including some basic pizzas and salads. They open early and close late, and the entire menu is available all day long.

5. Alice Pizza in Rome

There are quite literally Alice Pizza joints around every corner in Rome. It’s one of the city’s biggest franchises; and although it definitely isn’t the best pizza in Rome, it’s absolutely not bad at all.

Not many people know that Alice Pizzerias are kosher. They don’t advertise it, but they are. Just be sure to ask your server to confirm your order was made with kosher ingredients, as they might substitute should anything have been unavailable.

6. Nonna Betta in Rome

Nonna Betta is the best spot for all the Italian dishes you need to try when in Rome. The Jewish community in Italy are famous for their carciofi alla giudia, which is traditional deep fried artichoke; this spot is famous for them, and for their incredible restaurant ambience.

Bookings have become somewhat essential every day of the week due to overwhelming popularity. They also do not open on weekends at all.

7. Ba Ghetto Kosher in Rome

Meat lovers must head to Ba Ghetto in the city north. Kosher combo plates are the concept, and you’ll fill your plate will at the fleshy meats your heart desires.

Vegetarians/vegans avoid; the only thing you can really eat here would be fries and artichoke, the latter of which is poorly cooked.

8. BellaCarne Kosher Restaurant in Rome

BellaCarne is the perfect balance of Italian food meets Arabic cuisine. Nowhere else in Rome can you eat authentic falafel and a plate of carbonara under one roof — and kosher!

Another spot where you’ll have to keep an eye on your bill for a sneaky tap water charge. Let them know we don’t approve.

9. Daruma Sushi in Rome

Yes, kosher sushi in the Italian capital. A cultural journey around the world in just a single dining experience.

I probably don’t need to tell you that this is the only kosher sushi in Rome; probably also in Italy, and Europe, potentially.

It’s pricy, which is understandable considering how unique and rare the concept is. A great kosher alternative for anyone getting tired of pizza after pasta after kebab after falafel…

10. C’è pasta… E pasta! in Rome

I love this spot on Rome’s left bank. C’è pasta… E pasta! is a little pasta shop where everything is served canteen style. All of the pastas are pre-made and ready behind the counter all day long.

A kosher dream, especially if you are in a rush to grab something to eat between sight seeing.
