Top 10 Home Decorating Stores in Rome

Romans have impeccable taste. This applies to everything from clothing to interior decor.

There’s a lot of great interior decorating stores around the city. Something interesting to note about Roman home decor stores is that most of them open during two different trading slots throughout the day. The same way some restaurants have a lunch service and a differ service separated by a few hours of being closed completely.

Read on for ten of the best.

1. Mia Home Design Gallery in Rome

Mia is right in the heart of the city, in a district known as Rione IV Campo Marzio. This is considered one of the most stylish neighborhoods in Rome, so quality interior design is easy to come by.

The pieces in Mia are usually unique and works of up and coming designers who are testing the boundaries of conventional interiors. They tend to be risky, avant guard pieces that hold that ‘one of a kind’ feeling regardless of how many have been produced — you know?

3.  Decor Architecture & Interiors in Rome

I love the Decor Architecture & Interiors store. It’s right up in the outlying suburbs of Rome; there is no metro service here so you’ll have to visit by car.

This design store is for anyone who is partial to unique, culturally diverse home decor that draws influence from minority tribes around the world. There is a definite showcase of African, East Asian and South American trends within this shop. A great spot for rugs and statement pieces, too.

5. Estremi in Rome

Estremi is close to the Colosseum. This is where I would go furniture shopping if I were furnishing a house with a rustic, beach vibe to it.

Their collection is very much a mix of summer vacation home meets farmhouse in the hills. Everything feels handmade, despite being of the utmost quality and production.

There is great exploration of color, texture and pattern at Estremi.

6. ML Interior Design in Rome

ML is a really small and simple design shop in the southeastern-most neighborhood of the Roman sphere.

This is a modern yet incredibly quirky design store; everything is clearly new-age but there is a slight retro element to everything that they produce. Almost as if to add an 80s inspired undertone to all of their designs. You’ll see what I mean when you explore!

7. Dispensabile in Rome

Back toward the Colosseum again, Dispensabile is another really fabulous interior design store with a retro twist to it.

Their pieces are modern, but very much reflective of midcentury design techniques and trends of that era. A lot of customized metal framework and creative storage options feature on their floor; with homeware, like pots and pans, making up for a big part of their stock list.

Another design store you’ll have to use a car to get to; Ethimo takes bohemian chic to a whole new level. If you’ve ever been a fan of wicker furniture, or repurposed wood, then you’ll be in your element.

The kind of furniture for homes where plants outnumber the people.

10. Archidea in Rome

Archidea is another retro dream where you blast into the past just by looking their freestanding bathtubs and fluorescent kitchen finishes.

Archidea will also challenge your personal boundaries of what is and is not allowed when it comes to decorating your home. A double layered sink for example? Weird, but why not? Lime green cabinets throughout the house? Largely unheard of, but oddly satisfying.
