The Best Shopping streets in Rome

Ancient history, stunning architecture and good Italian food are the reasons why tourists love to visit Rome. But Rome is much more than this. There are a lot of things to see and museums to visit. Without forgetting the green areas, the cultural sights and all the beauties that make Rome wonderful.

I need to tell you the truth. There is one thing that I like to do every time I visit Rome…and it’s shopping! So if you are in Rome then take your time and explore the shops. You will find them all around but there are some areas specific for shopping.

Here’s our guide to the best shopping street in Rome where you will find big brands, artisanal boutiques and much more.

Via del Corso

Via del Corso is the main shopping street in Rome. The road extends for about one and a half kilometres between Piazza Venezia and Piazza del Popolo and is the most famous street in the historic centre of Rome.
According to some scholars, the Via was already present during ancient Roman times and was a suburban stretch of the “Via Flaminia“.
Later it became “Via Lata” and was sparsely inhabited but full of tombs of famous people.
In the fifteenth century, the road returned to have importance for the city of Rome, becoming the main road towards the port.
In 1467, by papal decree, the street became the main seat of the carnival parades and races.
Thus officially became “Via del Corso“. In 1665 Pope Alexander VII made the road trafficable and you can still admire the plaque hanging in his memory in Via Della Vite.
Only in 1854, the street was illuminated with gas lanterns.
From that moment on, they opened shops, bookstores, antique dealers, jewellers.

Today the street is shared by four districts of Rome.
You will find many churches and palaces to admire along the entire route that you can take in both directions towards Piazza Venezia or Piazza del Popolo.

While walking along Via del Corso, you’ll find the biggest brand in high street shopping. H&M, Gap, Zara, Sisley, Miss Sixty, Diesel.
Without forgetting Nike, Adidas, Lacoste, Puma.
If you are searching for some beauty products then you’ll find Sephora, Mac, Kiko Cosmetics.
If you are searching for other shops then visit the Galleria Alberto Sordi.

Via Condotti

If luxury shopping is for you then you have to go to Via Condotti.
This very prestigious street starts from Piazza di Spagna and ends with Palazzo Fendi.
Along this street, you will find shops such as Giorgio Armani, Miu Miu and Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tiffany & Co. or Jimmy Choo.
Don’t forget to take some photos at the Prada, Louis Vuitton, Dior stores.
Along the way, you will find many buildings to admire including Palazzo Magistrale, Palazzo Anselmini, Palazzo Maruscelli Lepri and many others.

Via Cola di Rienzo

If you are looking for Roman boutiques where to shop then Via Cola di Rienzo is the right way for you.
The street is located a few steps from the Vatican and in the Prati district.
Here you will find shops like David Naman, Prada, Stefanel, Liu Jo, Goldenpoint and Tezenis, Coin.
For the trendy youngsters, you will find Subdued and Brandy Melville.

Via Del Boschetto

At Via del Boschetto, in the Monti district, you will find many independent shops where you can go shopping.
Here you can get lost among the many artisan shops that make completely handmade products.
You will find many special clothing stores such as Kokoro and Boschettotre that makes accessories for all tastes.
If you are looking for vintage products, then visit King Size, Pulp, Pifebo and Estremi for a bohemian look.

Shopping centres

If you are a fan of shopping centres then I recommend you to visit La Rinascente which is located a few steps from the Trevi fountain.
Inside you will find shops such as Prada, Bottega Veneta, Acne American Outfitters, Church’s, McQueen, Chloè, Bulgari. If you are hungry and you need to take a little break then stop at MadeITerraneo restaurant MadeITerraneo or at PZA Makers for good and tasty pizza in all sauces.
Another shopping centre where I like to spend time is EurRoma 2 located in Viale dell’Oceano Pacifico, 83 in the Torrino district.
The structure is divided into several levels. You will have a wide choice of fast food, and pizzerias. Without forgetting the clothing stores for all budgets.

Tips

Wherever you are in the Eternal City you will find many shops to visit and where to spend money.
I always advise you to go shopping especially when there are sales as you will find everything at half price!
Stay informed on the web and you can buy excellent handmade products or famous brands for half the price!
