10 Things To Eat in Trevi, Rome

The Trevi neighborhood of Rome is not the most diverse area when it comes to things to eat. The neighborhood’s main attraction, the Trevi Fountain, brings thousands of tourists into the district each day, most of who want an eutectic Italian meal to top off their sight seeing or guided walking tour.

So the restaurants of the area provide; and if it’s pizza and pasta you want you’ll find abundance. If not, here are some other foods on offer in our beloved Trevi.

1. Sandwiches: La Prosciutteria in Trevi, Rome

Just around the corner from the fountain is la Prodciutteria: a hidden gem of a sandwich shop.

You can grab-and-go, or dine in. They serve everything deli-style so you can easily build your own sandwich and select your meats and veggies from behind the counter. They are also excellent builders of cheese and meat boards, which is what most people dine in for.

For price perspective: you can get a two person sharing board for just €20. The food is plenty!

2. Gelato: Melograno in Trevi, Rome

There are a lot of gelato shops within close proximity to the Trevi Fountain. Melograno remains my go-to because I believe the price and the quality are the most fair in a neighborhood that thrives on exploiting tourists.

They also have gluten fee cones available upon request — a nice touch!

3. Brasserie: Baccano in Trevi, Rome

Brasserie dining is intended to make you feel like you’re in the heart of Parisian 1940s, which is hard to do in the center of the Italian capital.

Baccano has created an outstanding space, with a menu to match. If you like oysters then this is your spot. Great for a romantic night out or even a first Tinder date in Rome.

Their kitchen is open until 2am, making it a great spot for late night dining too!

4. Chinese: Zhong Yi in Trevi, Rome

Even the most Roman of Roman neighborhoods have a Chinese restaurants lingering somewhere between the streets.

Zhong Yi is the most simple and affordable Chinese restaurant in the city. And most importantly, the food is good. Cheap and good don’t always go together when it comes to Chinese food, so this is a real treat.

If you take a guided walking tour between the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon, you’ll pass right by it.

5. Vegan: Ristorante Rifugio Romano in Trevi, Rome

There are actually no vegan restaurants in central Termini itself; this one is just outside the neighborhood in the far east. As a vegan visiting the Trevi Fountain, you’ll want to walk here when it comes time to eat.

They are a regular Italian restaurant with a generous vegan menu. Admittedly, this is probably the best vegan pizza available in all of Rome.

6. Ramen: Roppongi in Trevi, Rome

Roppongi is the only Japanese dream near to the Trevi center. Before we get to the ramen I want to mention that they offer a fabulous all you can eat sushi buffet for just €20 per person.

Their ramen blows are to warm your soul on a chilly day in Rome. If you’ve not yet had ramen, the traditional Japanese noodle dish, then I must highly recommend it.

7. Tuscan: Il Chianti Vineria in Trevi, Rome

There is a big divide amongst Italians as to what part of the country makes the best pizza and pasta of them all. A large percentage do believe it to be Tuscany.

Tuscan cooking holds many similarities to Roman, but also has distinct differences. This makes it a unique cuisine, even down to the way they prepare their pizzas and pastas.

Il Chianti Vineria is the best place to sample Tuscan food while in Trevi. It’s very, very good.

9. Gluten Free: Taverna Barberini in Trevi, Rome

Of course not everyone thrives with Roman cuisine during their vacation. Those with Celiacs Disease and anyone else who avoids gluten can struggle finding things to eat while on the town. Italian food and gluten tend to go hand in hand, so the few places that break this cycle are utter gold.

Taverna Barberini is on the edge of Trevi, outside the Barberini metro station. All of their pizzas, pastas and breads have gluten free options available. The kitchen will take reports of Celiacs very seriously and do what they can to avoid cross contamination during preparation.
