Splurging on a well made, perfectly tailored suit whilst in Rome is a common occurrence for newcomers to the city.

There are hole-in-the-wall tailor shops throughout the city center, as well as flagship stores the world’s biggest names in men’s fashion. Whether you opt for a name brand or not, you’ll be paying almost half the price you would were these suits to be shipped further into the West.

1. Emporio Armani in Rome

Giorgio Armani is one of Italy’s top designers, offering luxury fashion to men and women who can afford the hefty price tag. Armani is a sought after suit brand across the USA and Canada, but buying a suit directly from Rome will see massive cuts to the ordinary retail price.

There are Armani stores across Rome; in every notable shopping alley and district. Visit early on in your trip so that if alterations need to be made there is ample time.

2. Battistoni in Rome

Battistoni is a small but alluring bespoke suit shop in the north of the city, close to the Villa Borghese.

Find the footpath that leads from Plaza España directly to the store door. You’ll be assisted, in Italian, but some of the best Roman ateliers in the country. Investing in an Italian suit doesn’t get more authentic than this.

Expect a relatively fast turnaround time.

5. Eredi Pisanò near Rome

Also in the Ancient City, there are probably a dozen suitable suit (ha!) shops within a three block radius of this spot.

Eredi Pisanò offer suits and clothing for both men and women. Due to limited staff on the weekend, they are usually only able to facilitate alterations during the week. Keep this in mind if your time in Rome is limited.

There is very little known about what goes on behind closed doors at Kiton. Satisfied customers report their time in the store to have been “top quality”, “the best of the best” and “downright fabulous”.

That’s enough for me to believe men are in for a treat whilst paying a visit to this atelier. They also have quite generous opening hours compared to establishments of similar quality; just don’t show up on a Sunday.
