What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Paris? For many, it’s the French cuisine, architecture, museums, and of course, French style. Paris is known for being one of the fashion capitals of the world, and along with that comes excellent shopping. So here’s our guide to the top 15 best shopping streets in Paris.

1. Rue Saint-Honoré

Running all the way from Palais Royal until Place Vendôme, Rue Saint-Honoré is one of the longest on our top 10 shopping streets in Paris. This upscale street is famous for its vast collection of designer boutiques and some of the city’s most exclusive hotels. If you’re looking to do some designer shopping or simply see some impressive window displays, this is a great place to start!

2. Rue des Francs Bourgeois

Located in the chic and artsy Marais district, Rue des Francs Bourgeois is where the locals go to shop. Thanks to its many cafés, museums and shopping options, this street is a great place to stroll and experience the true charm of le Marais. The narrow street is lined with Parisian brands like Maje and Sandro mixed in with home ware boutiques and concept stores like La Piscine; which caters to men’s and women’s fashion.

3. Place Vendôme

Easily one of the most luxurious places in the city, Place Vendôme is certainly one of the top 10 shopping streets in Paris. As you may have guessed from the name, this isn’t a single street, but rather a whole square. Place Vendôme is famous for the array of prestigious jewelry brands and watchmakers here. Home to world-renowned Ritz Hotel as well as flagships like Chaumet, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Cartier, there’s no shortage of glitz and glamour here.

4. Boulevard Haussmann

Paris is home to designer boutiques and high street fashion alike, but it all comes together on Boulevard Haussmann. Situated in the 9th arrondissement, Boulevard Haussmann is home to the city’s most famous department stores. So if you’re a one stop shop kind of person, this area is perfect for you!

The famous department stores Printemps and Galeries Lafayette are just down the street from one another. Each store has 8 floors of impressive selections of just about anything you can imagine, and with offerings to fit any budget. Plus, both stores have rooftop bars showcasing stunning views of Paris. Perfect to relax after a day of shopping!

5. Rue de Sèvres

While the 7th arrondissment is home to famous Parisian monuments like the Eiffel Tower and Invalides, the rest of the district is mostly residential. Save for Rue de Sèvres, or the area’s shopping street. This street leads from chic Saint-Germain all the way through the 7th arrondissement towards Montparnasse.

As you make your way down the street, you’ll find there’s a little of everything here. Fromageries, bakeries, cafés, tiny boutiques and big designer names line both sides of the street, all vying for your attention.  At number 24, you’ll find the impressive Bon Marché department store and the Grande Epicerie – a 3-story fine food and home shop.

6. Avenue Montaigne

Glitz, glamour and an international reputation precede the next up on my top 10 shopping streets in Paris. Perhaps the most glamorous and exclusive of them all, Avenue Montaigne is a luxury shoppers paradise. Just a quick hop from the Champs-Elysées, the Avenue Montaigne is lined with five-star hotels, exclusive restaurants, and of course just about any designer boutique imaginable. If you’re looking to splurge, this is the place!

7. Les Halles

Situated between Chatelet and Etienne Marcel, this newly-renovated shopping area is closed to cars, making it a local favorite for a day of browsing. Once the largest fresh market in the city, Les Halles has been transformed into a 3-story modern day shopping mall and entertainment. Whether you’re shopping for electronics, furniture, clothes, shoes, or a unique gift, there’s a good chance you’ll find it at Les Halles. There are also plenty of restaurants, a cinema, and even a gym.

8. Rue de Passy

Upscale and calm, the 16th arrondissement is mostly residential but not without its hidden gems. Beyond the bustle of Trocadéro you’ll find one of the top 10 shopping streets in Paris: Rue de Passy. There are plenty of mid to high-end fashion boutiques for men and women, as well as at the commercial center, Passy Plaza. And if you want to try a truly Parisian farmer’s market, head to the Marché Couvert de Passy where plenty of French gourmet delights await you.

9. Boulevard Saint-Germain

Touting flagships like Ralph Lauren and Sonia Rykiel, and Diptyque, the Boulevard Saint-Germain is no newcomer on the Parisian shopping scene. Historically an artistic area, the Boulevard Saint-Germain and surrounding area have become decidedly more posh over the years, paving the way for extensive shopping options.

The Boulevard is one of Paris’ longest, and the best shopping is in the section between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Cluny la Sorbonne metro stations. You’ll have your pick of luxury and designer shops, as well as more local and artisanal boutiques selling everything from antique books to the latest fashions.

10. Rue de Rivoli

One of Paris’ main thoroughfares, the Rue de Rivoli runs past the Louvre and through the entire first arrondissement. This is one of the busiest shopping streets in Paris, and for good reason. There’s not much you won’t find on Rue de Rivoli, from the BHV department store and the upscale Carrousel du Louvre shopping centre to high street brands and everything in between. And if for some reason you don’t find what you’re looking for here, Les Halles is just a quick walk from Rue de Rivoli.

11. Champs-Élysées Avenue

The Champs-Elysees is arguably the world’s most famous avenue. More than 300,000 people walk it every day. Due to the high-end brands of jewelry, watches, sportswear, cosmetics, and fashion that can be found from Concord Square to the Triumphal Arch, this 1 mile long and 230-foot-wide street has earned the reputation of being a shopping paradise.

Paris has been the centre of attention since it was founded. This location has been the home of Guerlain Parfumes’ flagship store for more than a century. Speaking of flagship stores, some of them have large collections and are more akin to museums, like the Louis Vuitton store at number 101.

Luxury isn’t the focus of everything, of course. There are sizable retail locations for well-known clothing retailers at affordable prices, such as GAP and Lacoste, as well as sportswear labels like Nike or Adidas.

12. Haussmann Boulevard

The wide avenues and broad boulevards of the 19th century that are still visible in modern-day Paris were designed by a guy by the name of Haussmann. One of the busiest streets in the city, the avenue bearing his name is home to renowned retail malls like the Galeries Lafayette (3 towers) and the storied Opera Garnier directly across the street.

Another well-known department store and high-end retailer is on the way: Printemps. Check out the shopping centres like Passage Jouffroy or Passage des Panoramas for more upscale, cosy, and affordable options.

13. Boulevard Saint Germain

Home decor stores, fashion boutiques, and speciality food stores can all be found in Saint-Germain. A fantastic shopping district will be revealed as you approach the intersection of Boulevard Raspail and Rue du Bac.

Le Bon Marché is a historic commercial centre that is located on the outskirts of Saint-Germain. A look at it from the exterior and the interior is definitely worthwhile. The Left Bank of Paris’s Rue de Rennes is one of the busiest shopping areas, and it is especially recommended for people looking for shoe retailers.

14. Rue du Commerce

The best option for tourists willing to venture off the most well-known and popular routes in Paris is Rue du Commerce. Although this street is not as wide as others, which can make tourists dizzy, the pleasant atmosphere created by the numerous designer businesses is enough to make it a local favourite.

Numerous stores selling perfume, lingerie, apparel, accessories, and gifts, as well as a few eateries, notably the renowned Café du Commerce (no. 51), can be found on the Rue du Commerce. There is no need to mention that the costs are very affordable when compared to the main Parisian retail districts.

15. Avenue Montaigne

Avenue Montaigne is a little side street in Paris, France, that is only 615 meters (672 yards) long and is located just off the famed Champs-Elysées. This tiny street is primarily home to well-known luxury labels, so plan on doing most of your shopping from the window unless you’re willing to shell out a lot of cash. A store is located here for Giorgio Armani, Chanel, Gucci, Givenchy, and Dior.

I hope you’ve enjoyed discovering the top 15 best shopping streets in Paris, now you know where the local’s shop.

See you soon in Paris!
