1. Sylon de Montmartre near the Sacre Coeur in Paris

This charming cafe is perfectly situated between Pigalle and the Sacre Coeur. It’s a short walk up (or down) the hill, and is a welcome escape from the busting tourist filled streets that tend to crowd this area. 

It’s possible that the Sylon de Montmartre has the best coffee in the 18th arrondissement. You’ll also enjoy light meals and snacks.

2. Au Clair de Lune near the Sacre Coeur in Paris

This lovely brasserie has been an important coffee spot in Montmartre for decades. It’s known for a great vive, day or night, with soulful tracks playing in the background at all times. 

By night, drinks are reasonably priced and you can enjoy that very authentic Parisian cafe energy.

3. The Hardware Société Paris near the Sacre Coeur in Paris

An Australian cafe in the heart of Paris? You’ll have to see it to believe it. 

Think fantastic coffee, great brunch, and baked goods that will keep you coming in for more. This is one of the closest cafes to the actual Sacre Couer; situated just a short walk east from the church entrance.

4. KB CaféShop near the Sacre Coeur in Paris

The KB Cafe is further south from the basilica, and is an old fashioned coffee shop through and through. You won’t be able to visit this cafe by night, but you will enjoy some of the finest imported coffees from around the world, with treats to match. 

The pavement terrace is incredibly endearing, especially on a warm summer’s morning.

5. Café Renoir near the Sacre Coeur in Paris

If Montmartre has one hidden gem, this is it. So hidden in fact that you’ll have to fork our 5 euros just to get inside. 

The Cafe Renoir is part of the Montmartre museum. The grounds are worth the entrance fee alone. 

Come for teas, coffees, cakes and snacks as you bask in the landscapes that Renoir once used to inspire his artworks.

6. Soul Kitchen near the Sacre Coeur in Paris

Don’t let the very strange opening hours of this cafe deter you — make the time to visit Soul Kitchen!

In my opinion, this is the best place for cakes, coffees, teas and general ambiance near the Sacre Coeur. Even if you don’t have the time to dine in, consider grabbing a muffin to enjoy on the go, or an iced coffee for your basilica visit.

7. Le Café Qui Parle near the Sacre Coeur in Paris

Looking for that late night cafe vibe near the famous church? This spot can offer you a place to drink, dine and be merry through until midnight each day. 

It’s a traditional French cafe, so expect much less gentrified foods. The do a wonderful Sunday brunch consisting of baguettes, eggs, jams, pastries, soups, sardines, beans and more.

8. LouLou Montmartre near the Sacre Coeur in Paris

LouLou’s is a great spot if you’re just looking for consistently good food, piping hot drinks, and a space that is worthy of an influencer’s Instagram. 

During peak season, don’t be surprised if there is a bit of a queue outside the restaurant.

9. La Main Noire near the Sacre Coeur in Paris

If you’ve got some time to stroll through greater Montmartre from the church, take a walk through to le Main Noire on the western end of the village.

This is a new and very trendy cafe that has been making a name for itself over the past few years. I recommend their pancakes, quiche or “sticky chai” — just go for it!

10. Cafe Francoeur near the Sacre Coeur in Paris

This cafe shares a block with Soul Kitchen mentioned above. It’s a more traditional, large scale Parisian cafe experience that some might confuse with a brasserie. 

You can visit Cafe Francoeur day and night, as they open around 6:30am and only close up around 2 in the morning. The service is always good, and this is definitely one of the less touristy dining spots in Montmartre.
