10 Best Cafés near the Musée d’Orsay in Paris

The Orsay Museum is a must visit for all art lovers in Paris. This city is filled with sensational museums, but the Orsay is something in majestic territory.

Situated on the banks of the Seine, the Orsay Museum falls under Paris’ 1st arrondissement; a charming neck of the woods for cafe culture and modern gastronomy.

Here are 10 not-to-be-missed cafes near the Orsay Museum to enjoy during your visit:

1. Café d’Orsay near the Musée d’Orsay in Paris

One can help but start by mentioning the nearest and dearest cafe to the museum itself: so close, in fact, that this cafe is named after the Orsay!

This quirky spot feels like 1950s Parisian cafe meets 1970s Californian diner. It’s bright blue facade and retro interior make it one of the best places to eat in the 1st arrondissement.

Cafe Verlet does a classic Eggs Benedict, as well as a salmon and spinach variation. I tend to go all out when I come here and just go straight to the waffle and cream dish!

5. Saint Laurent Cafe near the Musée d’Orsay in Paris

There’s nothing overly exciting about the Saint Laurent Cafe near the Orsay Museum, but it does deserve a mention when it comes to the history of this neighborhood. Situated directly behind the YSL flagship store (that also used to be the home of Yves), this cafe makes wonderful coffee, often accompanied by some basic snack foods.

It’s tiny, and I recommend just grabbing a cuppa to go and walking through the gardens instead! If you’re a fan of the YSL legacy, this cafe is a must-visit while you’re in the area.

8. Café Kitsune Palais Royal near the Musée d’Orsay in Paris

If something lighter than a full meal is on the cards after your museum visit, the Cafe Kitsune is probably where you want to go. This is a spot that I enjoy in the spring and summer months, as the majority of their space is situated on their outdoor terrace.

Cafe Kitsune was the first place I’ve found a dirty chai latte in Paris. They also offer oat milk, which is something not many places are doing yet either.

The rest of the time, it’s game on, and this is a traditional French cafe through and through. By night, their bar opens up and offers a wonderful vibe to this cozy corner opposite the Tuileries eastern-most entrance, a short walk from the Orsay Museum. Look for the flowers — you can’t miss it!

10. Baguett’s Café near the Musée d’Orsay in Paris

This cafe is a short walk from the Orsay, up toward the Louvre and Tuileries gardens. It’s a tiny cafe, lit mostly by the fairy lights that are suspended from the ceiling.

The petite kitchen caters paninis, sandwiches, toasts, croissants, bagels, pancakes and quiche. Rumor has it they also make some of the best scrambled eggs in the world — you’ll have to visit for breakfast to get to try them.
